Something for everyone - whether you want to shop for jade designed by one of the onsite carvers or have a go at carving yourself. $5 stone polishing for those on a budget who want a rainy day activity. Just go to the beach and pick some that you think may turn out well!

I've been to see Steve to do carving three times now during my year in NZ and each experience was different but very enjoyable. Steve and Dan are friendly and helpful, taking you through the whole process. Steve charges reasonably for the finished piece but when put together with the time and help given it's definitely value for money. This... More

Although I'm absolutely not creative and have only very limited skills when it comes to craftwork I decided to create a special birthday present for my best friend and I really enjoyed my time at Bonz 'n' Stonz. You don't pay much more than for an "impersonal" pendant and are rewarded with a memory that might not be perfect but... More

For me, it was an extraordinary experience to see a piece of greenstone slowly take form in my hands. Under the expert guidance from Steve, I designed and carved my very own piece of Pounamu (New Zealand greenstone), with patient advice for every step and a helping hand when necessary. Not only do you get a very memorable experience, but... More

The day I was there, Steve helped a range of students from a 13 year- old experienced carver to a 60-something novice create something beautiful in greenstone that they'd designed themselves. It was a magical experience!

My husband and I went to New Zealand for our 15th Anniversary. We visited Bonz and Stonz to create a memorable treasure. Steve helped us create a work of art symbolizing our love, using New Zealand products and symbols. Definitely a day to remember!

This is one of the must do when you go to South Island, The simple fact that you be able to experience how to use the tools to create your own style pendant with 100 % New Zealand Greenstone or Pounamu. is an opportunity that you should take. And walk away with a real treasure. Is too many fake pieces... More

When we first contacted Steve to enquire about availability, he set us some homework: to think about what we'd like to create! In the studio a couple of days later, Steve guided us through the process of turning our ideas into reality - choosing suitable pieces of pounanu (jade), marking them out, grinding them down step by step, then polishing.... I purposefully went to Hokitika in order to do some jade carving as I'd heard good things about it and I wasn't disappointed! Steve is a friendly, helpful guy who's very patient with everyone. He works with what you want, which in my case was making charms for a bracelet. I ended up spending the best part of the day... More
