Met a very successful businessman there whom noteworthily decided upon Ruakaka for his residence after having lived in Auckland suburbs for decades. We made a stop there and... More

We had a lovely light lunch here while enjoying the scenery. Also shopped at small supermarket. The public toilets were nice and clean.

Alway love coming out here. As a kid I would stay out here for the school holiday. It's a lot bigger out there now. Not to far from Whangarei. If your just going for a day trip there is lots to see and do

The Ruakaka Reserve Motor Camp was a fantastic place to stay. A nice flat sandy river estuary for the little ones and a surf beach around the corner. Suitable for people of all ages.

Amazingly beautiful beach with interesting rock shaped islands into Bream Bay. Turquoise sea, just perfect and hardly anyone on it too.

Beautiful sand like soft sugar, clean beaches, excellent Surf Lifesaving Club, good public toilets. Surf varies and can be calm and gentle but also great for surfing depending on the day. Watch out for dangerous rips (at all beaches not just Ruakaka), and swim between the flags when lifesavers are on duty. Good café right near the beach. Ruakaka Surf... More

Ruakaka beach is an awesome beach. One of the good ones around the area. Long and plenty of shells to sift through. Soft sand is great for relaxing and the water is nice.

It's close to Whangarei and easily accessible by car. Early in the morning is a great running spot as well, since there isn't many people around.
