Probably one of the best beaches that I have ever seen. Soft fine sand. Lovely views and clean waters. Waves looked great as well. Waters are not too deep so wading inside is lovely. Great place to hang out and enjoy the sunset.

A pleasant drive not too far from the city. The beach is generally clean and even at the height of summer not overly crowded. Been some reports of theifts from the car park so please make sure your belongings are secure.

Visited often as family lived out that way but still go back and have a walk on the beach. White sand sloping back to high dunes. Good surfing but I am not that brave any more. Stop off at the Parua Bay Tavern on the way, good place for lunch.

Nice spot for a surf/swim or a lie on the sand with parking, toilets & picnic tables 2 mins walk away. It is patrolled in summer on weekends. Surfers should check local conditions before heading there. As other reviews have said - nothing special but there are good coastal tracks (Bream Head & Mt Manaia) nearby. It was quiet &... More

The beach was fantastic and there were life guards on duty. I loved the waves. We also hiked the Bream Head coastal track and went down into Peach Cove. This was very hard work and I would not recommend it unless you are quite fit. It was very steep in places and there are 810 steps down into Peach Cove... More

Nice clean beach . We stayed nearby and went down for an evening walk . Nothing spectacular . It was quiet at 5pm with about 10 people around . Gentle waves and clean water . Bring your sunblock . Probably not worth the trouble to drive all the way here if you stay far away .

C1 ( 2014.01.09 ) I visited there with big expectation, but I couldn't find special. Because it was cloudy, there were a little people. I have visited some beach in Northland, but there was normal, I think.

Ocean Beach is at the far end of the peninsula but worth the drive. It is a beautiful beach, really nice, and ideal for surfing when condition are good. Lifeguards are here all summer long. We've been luck to find here huge dolphins coming really close to swimmers and doing a show jumping in the air, riding the waves .... More

Pack a picnic and get to Ocean Beach early! Enjoy a long walk on a multi-mile (km) crescent beach. We did on New Year's Day and it was awesome. We beat the traffic, the crowds and the wind to put up our tent and enjoy the unobstructed views of the Hawke's Bay clifts, Bear Island and one of the most... More
