I was really surprised to see 'average' rating given to this place by some reviewers. Having stayed in various places in New Zealand and overseas, I am confident that this one epitomises the definition of 'boutique'. The setting is tranquil and romantic, the owners are extremely friendly and laid-back. The accommodation has everything you need and has a character. The... More

We spent out first three nights of our recent trip to NZ at Rapaura. Booked to stay in the cottage we were upgraded to the lodge. Raised level with the trees it was hard to know which of the many decks to view the surrounding scenery from! The lodge was very tastefully furnished, more a home-stay than anything. Our hosts,... This is a very popular tourist stop. Relaxing garden walks and places for meditation and contemplation. A beautiful setting and a great little restaurant too.

Lunch in the restaurant was delicious, quiet and reasonably priced. the food was beautifully prepared but not pretentious. The walk around the gardens after lunch was a delight - beautiful concepts. An oasis. A gentle walk for about an hour - longer if you wanted to dally. Not so good for wheel chairs all the way though much of it... More

A peaceful and tranquil garden, found completely unexpectedly and we are so glad that we did! Beautifully laid out gardens that you could wander through for hours with something different to discover at every turn. Includes a walk through a wooded valley to a fabulous waterfall where you can bathe. The café is fantastic with a great menu to suit... More

You have to diver from main road - on your way you have many one line passes, and gravel at the end. First of all they are a little bit longer open than stated on website - you just have to purchase ticket before 17.00 (closing of restaurant) - and you may stay in gardens itself longer (owners discretion). It takes... These gardens are a sanctuary of peace and beauty and are well worth the short diversion from the main Thames/Coromandel road. They combine a delightful mix of beautiful watergardens and a native bush walk with a waterfall at the end. There is a secluded picnic area (which we took advantage of) or you could avail of the cafe which had... More

I have been here before, and never fails to delight. A very peaceful oasis where you can have a meander in the gardens, then walk to the waterfalls at the edge of the gardens. The Koru cafe on site, run by the owners, is exceptional and really would advise a stop for lunch here as it's a real treat, even... More
