A great gardens/domain that has something for everyone - from the play areas and miniature railway to the rose gardens. Especially worth a visit during September when the cherry blossoms are out.

It's a wonderful little park with plenty of playground equipment for children of various ages and abilities. Miniature train rides at a nominal cost. Native bird exhibits. Grills for cooking. Athletic fields. Short walks through forested areas. Riverfront walk access. And a rose garden and fine cafe. Drinking fountains and restrooms, conveniently located. It's a great place for a family... More

Spring and summer are especially nice times to visit Victoria Esplanade. Blossom trees in September and rose garden in late spring and all of summer. Nice place to picnic, bbq and allow the kids to play on the equipment, run around the grassy areas, feed ducks, paddle in pool and ride miniature train. Good coffee and food in cafe which... More

The Victoria Esplanade is a large, safe, green space located beside the Manawatu River. It has three main vehicle entrances and plenty of car parking. Its special feature has to be its extraordinary variety of optional use, both in the park and the bordering sporting facilities. From a recreation point of view there really is something to do for everyone.... More

This popular spot is great for anyone but family outings are the best. You may want to take a picnic or eat in the cafe but take plenty of time as there is a lot to do. The Children's playground will keep them amused for hours. The Esplanade is situated next to the Manawatu River and there are short bush... More

I went to this park to meet with a friend who needed to talk. The day was brilliant sunshine. We had lunch at the café, an excellent little jewel in the park, While aviary's are looking VERY tired, the birds were quite active. The grounds were very tidy, especially for a Sunday afternoon with a large number of people there.... More
