We went on the 2.5 hour trip right through the Lakes and it was really beautiful scenery and mostly very enjoyable. I suppose I'm being a bit 'picky' but I would have preferred to spend rather more time seeing the scenery and wildlife than cruising through people's 'front' yards halfway through the cruise. I couldn't afford to live like the... More

Family of 5 had boat cruise on the "Thunderbird*. A fabulous 30 km cruise trip through the Lakes over to Metung and back to Lakes Entrance. Weather & Crew were all excellent. Boat cruise was just fantastic only wished we had paid the extra and stopped over in Metung for lunch. Would definitely go on their cruises again and would... More

This was the second time we'd taken this boat ride and loved it as much as the first. This time we took our 8 year old along and did the full 2 hr afternoon cruise. Grab a seat up top for best views and dolphin spotting (from Oct onwards is best I believe) but bring a warm top or windbreaker... More

We were mainly interested in seeing some seals and dolphins. When I inquired about this at the ticket counter I was recommended their 11.45 and was even showen on the map where we will be stopping at 'the entrance'. However, on the cruise didnt stop and go in there (the entrance). When I checked with the crew, they just lied*... More

On a recent visit, we took the double trip on Thunderbird which was the lunch cruise to Metung followed by a longer cruise around the lakes and through Paynesville via Raymond Island. We had excellent service from the crew and great commentary from skipper Roger. Saw pelicans and other birds, watched dolphins frolicking, enjoyed an on board wine and simply... More

We took the lunch cruise to Metung. The ferry was comfortable and the commentary useful. The captain took time to go to the entrance and allow passengers to observe seals and Dolphins. Lunch at Metung Hotel was well prepared - a light two course meal choice of four mains. The ferry returned to pick us up and then we completed... More

We took the Thunderbird cruise which was a leisurely 2.5hr cruise through 70km of the gippsland lakes. Perfect way to take in the beauty of this area.

About half the time is spent cruising on the lakes (with an informative commentary from the capatain) and the other half is lunch at the Metung Pub. Great value and a pleasant day on the sheltered waters of the Gippsland Lakes so no chance of getting seasick (unless you drink too much at the Pub). Visit Australia's largest inland waterway... This was a delightful way to visit the small coastal town of Metung. The trip is quick, but enjoyable. We did the lunch cruise, and this was really well organised. Most of us having our lunch served within minutes of arrival and ordering. Beautiful fish lunch seemed to be the choice of most. The trip back was really interesting, taking... More
