Description: The majestic PS Emmylou is one of the most recognisable and iconic...
The majestic PS Emmylou is one of the most recognisable and iconic paddlesteamers along the Murray River, often featuring as the unofficial flagship of Echuca. Named after the country singer Emmylou Harris, the PS Emmylou has been host to thousands of people, delighting even her namesake during the late 1980s. Alongside the PS Pevensey, the PS Emmylou starred in the TV series All the Rivers Run in which she was renamed the PS Providence. Powered by a beautifully restored 1906 Marshall and Sons steam engine, the Emmylou journeys along the Murray offering a wide range of cruises. With an on-board galley and cabins Emmylou is the most versatile of all boats, able to provide short cruises, lunch and dinner options as well as 'old style' but comfortable accommodated cruises. Murray River Paddlesteamer's cruise schedule for the Emmylou includes four daytime cruises (10am, 11:15am, 1pm and 3pm), as well as twilight dinner cruises and overnight cruising (for 1, 2 or 3 nights). Alternative schedules are run at very busy times as well as off-peak periods, please check with our office for the daily schedule. The PS Emmylou is the only wood fired paddlesteamer in the world offering regular overnight cruising. Fuelled by redgum logs the Emmylou exudes old-world charm whilst offering modern luxury. The Emmylou accommodates group charters, corporate functions, group gatherings and weddings (send function enquiry.)

We did the absolute basic cruise - a one hourish lunchtime cruise without the lunch. Staked out some seats on the bow and let the scenery and commentary wash over us. It was lovely, cruising the Murray, seeing the natural scenery as well as passing other historic boats like the PS Pevensey (used in All the Rivers Run) which made... More

We had a really enjoyable trip on the Emmylou. Our 8 year old went on expecting to be bored but we all had a fantastic time. A 1 hour trip was hardly long enough. The kids (4,6,8) enjoyed seeing the steam engine and the paddles go around. You can read some of my other experiences (including picures and a video)... More

Always a pleasure to see the Emmylou steam past and even better when you are on board ! Had a lovely Sunday afternoon 90 min cruise - sat out the back in the winter sun enjoying a glass of bubbly ! Great scenery along the river and the paddle steamer is beautifully maintained with it's original steam engine which is... More

Great paddle steamer. Went on a Sunday morning so not a lot of people on board which made the trip more pleasant. Food and drinks for morning tea was good so nothing to complain their and great talk by the staff on board about the history of the paddle steamers in echuca. Only downside is that it was only an... Thanks for your kind review on Emmylou. Mornings are fantastic on the river this time of year with a bit of mist on the water. Morning tea beside the big fire steam engine is a great way to see the river. See you onboard again soon Regards Craig Burgess Director More

We did the overnight "dinner cruise" with a bunch of (older retired) mates. Which would be the best way to do it, if you are mad keen to do it. We knew the paddle steamer is old and basic, but, for the price charged, I would have thought there would have been something a bit special. The rooms are very... More

Thank you for takng the time to submit your review. The overnight Emmylou experience is a combination of a historical experience on the river including some modern amenities. Our cabins were created to mirror a traditional paddlesteamer design - to enhance the feel of stepping back in time. Unfortunately this does not always cater for taller people ! We have... More

We had the lunch cruise on a saturday and what a great way to spend the day. From the moment we walked onto the PS Emmylou the service was fantastic, the lunch was delicious, the drink service was fast and the cruise up the Murray was smooth. Would recommend the lunch cruise and would do it again.

A one hour cruise along the Murray River is a great way to finish the day in Echuca. The historic paddle steamers take you back to a bygone era when everything moved much slower. Drinks and snacks are available to make the time aboard enjoyable. The late afternoon light is also the best time for taking photos of the beautiful... More

We recently enjoyed a 4 night Cuise on the Murray Princess Paddle steamer - Athough Built in 1986 the boat is like stepping back in time with the lovely wood panelling & decor as you see in the old movies. All the crew were extremely helpful & friendly, ensuring everyone was made to feel welcome & all needs were met,... More
