This museum had so much more than I thought- it took quite a while to go around the various exhibits about the Chinese Community in Bendigo and see the unique dragons they have there. Also, the Chinese garden is lovely- well thought out and interesting. A little cafe too, with very friendly staff.

If you are into your Chinese heritage at all, or even just interested in some of the historical Bendigo Chinese history, this is the place to come. Your $11/adult gets you into the Golden Dragon Museum and the Yi Yuan Chinese Gardens. Also in the vacinity is the Kuan Yin Temple with it's free entry. The museum has two areas,... More

I found this attraction to be overpriced and disappointing, my wife loved it though. The first room you walk into is very dark (where they keep the dragon) no flash photography is allowed so photos don't show up the best! The second part of the museum with relics and ancient furnishings is a little better and everything on show is... More

Displays set up beautifully~ areal sense of going back through history. Loved the focus on real people's stories. Enjoyed the water garden too~ lots of photo ops and very peaceful. Chinese Festival Dragon was also great to see and read about.

This area of town houses FOUR separate attractions; the Golden Dragon Museum, the Chinese Yi Yuan Gardens, The Kuan Yin Chinese Temple and the Dai Gum San Forecourt Precinct. The Chinese Temple is open to the public and has free entry. It is the first temple built in Australia which honours the Goddess of Mercy. It is a lovely temple... More

This is the third time I have visited the Golden Dragon Museum. Many more exhibits have been added. Wonderful display and everything is treated with great dignity. Lovely staff. Took way longer than we thought it would. Had to go back and feed the parking meter.

This is a review of the Museum's surroundings (as I haven't yet had a chance to go inside the Museum). If you approach from McCrae Street, you walk through a well designed promenade with Chinese-style adornments. You're alongside a funeral business but don't notice it! Cross a narrow roadway and ahead of you you'll see the fascinatingly varied grounds in... More

My wife and I visited the Golden Dragon Museum today as part of a day trip with our local Probus Club. We had visited once before but it was many years ago. During the course of the tour the only part of the attraction we remembered was the room housing the dragons used at Bendigo festivals, in particular the one... More

A really well thought-out museum which tells the story of Chinese immigration to Bendigo during the gold rush. Worth a visit.
