Established in 1887, Bendigo Art Gallery is the largest, and one of the oldest regional galleries in Australia.

The Gallery's collection is extensive and varied with an emphasis on 19th century European art and Australian art from 1800s onwards, alongside a strong collection of contemporary Australian art. The collection is complimented by dynamic temporary exhibitions and a diverse range of public programs and events.

this gallery always seems to have a small interesting exhibition happening, and there is no entry fee, just a donation. They also seem to snare large scale exhibitions such as "Marilyn" ( Monroe) starting in March. Nice little restaurants and coffee shops abound its locality also.

I ate lunch with friends at the cafe before visiting the gallery. The meal was surprisingly good - I will definitely eat here again. The gallery was very enjoyable too and well laid out for optimum viewing.

I have visited this Gallery many times. Even without specific exhibitions on, the permanent paintings are well worth spending hours with. Last time I saw the Ned Kelly exhibition which was outstanding and I'm really looking forward to the Marilyn Monroe one coming. Cafe out the back is always good for coffee and a snack too.

A great modern art gallery with an eclectic fascinating collection. Even the building itself is great, an excellent meld of old and new.

To visit this lovely grand building to check in On Whitely Bunny & be inspired from Chinese calligraphy artists on a hot day is worth the drive from Echuca as a stop off! Plus a cooling stroll in the park is a hidden secret from Bendigo!

Bendigo Art Gallery has developed a great reputation and it's easy to see how the Gallery has contributed to local tourism. Even though the next major exhibition (Marilyn Monroe) doesn't start til next month, the Gallery is still well worth a visit. Entry is by donation (this does not apply to the major visiting exhibitions) and they have a great... More

I discovered the Bendigo by chance 5 years ago and have been back at least once a year since, White Wedding Gown, Grace Kelly's Gowns, Body Beautiful and so it goes. Already planning for the Marilyn Monroe Exhibition. the other wonderful thing the Gallery has done is to introduce me to Bendigo

As Art Galleries go, it is up to par and one would enjoy a wander through this gallery. The gallery of 17th-19th century paintings were exceptionally impressive.
