This church is fascinating and the scale is unbelievable. The size is assisted by it's location, perched on a hillside high above the main drag into Bendigo. The entrances are grand and bold and the interior cavernous. I left my husband at the Rays Outdoors shop opposite to explore the church. I took a zillion photos but I think the... More

Excellent choir and amazing bells. This magnificent cathedral, the last of the great cathedrals which take a century to build, puts paid to the old cliches about Europe having a monopoly on Western tradition - the glorious architecture of this building is the logical expression of the gold rush wealth and stonemasonry skills of the region.

Stunning church, beautifully made from stone. Stunning both inside and out. So much nicer to view now the buildings in front have been removed. Well worth stopping in for a look!

A fantastic occasion makes this an even better occasion. The Cathedral is a magnificent piece of sacred architecture that can be enjoyed with a wander through. It has provided a great venue for musical presentations as well. Its purpose is worship and it makes a great space when filled with community. We were there with family and friends for a... More

I'm not religious but this cathedral is on the must to do list if visiting Bendigo. Huge in size, perched up on a hill, this building commands attention.

Apart from the phenomenal structure of the building itself which takes your breath away when you walk around, this is a wondrous House Of God. For those who love beautiful structures, you certainly won't be disappointed and for those who have Faith In God, you will find the Peace and Love of God emanating from every corner of our Sacred... Amazing building. Architecture is wonderful, the organ magnificent. A lovely guide greeted us. The Sister Mary MacKillop statue is a new addition since my last visit many years ago just after the Cathedral was completed.

The cathedral has a lovely little history, and if members of the church are present they'll happily chat to you about it. The interior ceiling with its wooden detailing is lovely, but otherwise the cathedral can feel a little soulless despite some nice aspects. Perhaps this is due to its relatively sparse interior aside from the small side chapels? I'm... More

A beautiful old church, a must see. Architecture back then was amazing. Can easily spend an hour there.

After driving around Bendigo for a day or two and constantly spotting this building, it definitely worth taking a little time to stop and see this amazingly beautiful Cathedral.
