If I can warn you please don't go to see it,its over price and really not that special. We love Ballarat and sovereign hill with all the activities but this one it's waste of time and money. The light and sound effect not that special its a bit boring and this is the opinion of all of us. There was... More

An excellent way to learn of the history of the Eureka rebellion before visiting Sovereign Hill during the day. Walking around the gold diggings at night was awesome and if possible sit in the front row of the outdoor theatre as this allows you to be a close as possible to the presentation. Be prepared for some loud noise and... More

Great visual experience. Thought I had a reasonable knowledge of the Eureka rebellion but how wrong was I. Throughly enjoyed the light show and very informative. The laser show and effects along with the narrative story is a real history lesson. But be prepared it is cold & rug up as it is all outside. Although there is not much... More

Really great - well organised and worth the money. Take warm clothes !!! The train ride between sites was the highlight for our six year old. Some loud bangs could scare little children but ours was fine with this.

A year ago we turned up and the second show had been cancelled. This time around we hooked ahead. Overall the show was really good. I enjoyed the first half where we walked through a camp as the story unfolded. The second part where we were in an outdoor theatre was pretty good too but there was something a little... More

I came out of this show feeling very patriotic and humble. What a great show the effects were brilliant. The show goes for about 90 minutes and tells us of the story of the Eureka Stockade. A great insight to the life of the diggers on the gold fields. You are taken to about 4 sites around Sovereign Hill in... More

The Blood on the Southern Cross sound and light show was excellent. So much history graphically portrayed into a 90 minute program. The Soverign Hill staff were very friendly and professional and patient, particularly exercised excellent control when herding about 180 school children who attended the same session.

Unless you are absolutely certain the weather will be sufficiently hot ….. dress up very warmly for the sound and light show. I would recommend a very warm overcoat, plus potentially a good hat as well. The first 10 minutes of the show is inside, in the auditorium, which is fine and a useful introduction to the history of gold... More
