We were there at 1030 on Sunday morning and we almost had the gallery to ourselves. The staff were welcoming and amazed us by telling us there is no charge to enter. The gallery is divided into sections: the artists of those around the time of Australian settlement by Europeans; early Australian artists, then various sections for art since. There... More

A great place to wander around for an hour or so. Learn about the history of the region through the art. Great collection and of course the (in)famous Eureka Flag is a must see. Great little cofefe lounge/cafe downstairs

The Art Gallery is classy, interesting and a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. The art works and exhibitions were beautifully presented; the setting is just lovely. The staff at the gallery, from the front desk to the gallery shop, were knowledgable and welcoming. It was a pleasure to visit!

A must see when in Ballarat. Some fantastic oils paintings of old scenery Ballarat. Beautiful historic building in a street with many other old facades.

The ballarat art gallery was a pure pleasure to stroll through. The building itself was a pice of art with its high ceilings and magnificent celing roses and windows .tje art was extremely well presented with a large amount of local artists. Plenty of ballarat history on desplay tucked away in lyidard st a real gem to visit

I visited to see the Archibald Prize exhibition, along with a lot of other people. Yes, it was crowded but I still got a good look. The rest of the gallery was very interesting, less crowded, and well worth the visit.

An interesting collection but more modern and contemporary art and exhibitions needed. I particularly enjoyed the Four Tens exhibition
