Ballarat has it's share of historic buildings, but the Art Gallery did not dissapoint. The staff were extremely pleasant, and we were happy to catch the Auld Lang Syne exhibit exploring some of the Scottish influences on the early developments in Australia. Obviously the gallery has so much more to offer, and if you have time I am confident it... More

The display is affected at the moment (mid-July) because spaces have been closed for renovation, but the collection that's still on display is well presented and covers a number of styles. It is free entry. I am not a museum type of person. However, I love this museum. They are so many paintings to admire. I suggest you to spend 3 hours here at least.

This is the 3rd time I have been to the Ballarat Art Gallery. I think it has a really good collection - a good variety, some lovely pieces. The building and decor are delightful. I will definitely be spending more time there on my next visit.

As previous reviewers say, this is an excellent art museum in the traditional mode and it occupies an imposing colonial building on a suitably broad street. We visited for the exhibition about Scots in Australia and timed our visit to take advantage of a guided tour. We opted not to eat at the gallery's café because we were not sure... More

Everything from the design, detail and the display were simply out of this world! It's located in a beautiful historic building in the Historic Precint in Ballarat. Allow for a few hours to fully explore this wonderful place

Enjoyed the Gallery, especially the Scottish Exhibition, lots of detail about the Scots who came to Australia and some lovely paintings. I especially loved the ladies Tartan Gown and would have loved to have seen more about their costumes to give depth to the stories.
