An informative commentary from our skippers will take you on a historical journey where you will discover the stories and tales that shaped Launceston and the Tamar Valley. Travel in to the heart of the Tamar and view the navigable section of the spectacular Cataract Gorge. Sample the delights of our local wines and cheeses as you view breathtaking scenery, world class vineyards, historical buildings, rural settings and frequent encounters of fascinating wild life including sea eagles, wild duck, black swans, pelicans, plus many other varieties of water-fowl and occasionally playful seals. One of our passenger recently commented it is like a moving postcard. It is certainly a 'must do' when visiting Launceston! « less

We took the 50 minute cruise as it was our last day in tassie and we had seen the gorge from the walkway we wanted a different view! The guide knew what he was talking about, was very eager to answer any question. If we are ever back in Launceston we intend to take in one of the longer cruises! More

Our 4th river cruise during our six weeks in Australia and New Zealand; We like river cruises, we see the country from a different angle and relax but dollar for dollar this cruise fell short of expectations. I guess a twenty year old boat is more expensive to run than a modern one but I still think we paid top... More

We took the 4 hour luncheon cruise departing from Launceston up the Tamar River. It is a beautiful river and gives you a different perspective than what you get from the shore. There was plenty of wildlife including numerous sea eagles and bird life. There was also a friendly seal who followed us for awhile and waved as he went.... More

We took the four hour lunch cruise with wine and beer tasting, morning tea and lunch for $115 each. The commentary was interesting and not dry like some. Food was great and plentiful. Very comfortable boat. Just a wonderful day spent on the Tamar with stunning views!! Shorter cruises are available from 50 minutes to 2.5 hours. More

We went on an afternoon tour (about 3 hours) with Tamar River Cruises and loved it. The vessel was very modern with comfortable seating and good views from every seat. We went first into Catarat Gorge which gave us an an entirely new perspective on this wonderful place. Then we cruised slowly through the waterfront area and then up the... More

We took the four hour cruise and really enjoyed the experience. The food was well presented and very tasty. The commentary was informative and the skipper tried to set the boat up for good photo shoots. The best bit was the value. We used a coupon on the back of a supermarket docket and got two tickets for the price... More

As we intended doing a number of walks up Cataract Gorge & driving up the Tamar Valley on the wine route we decided not to do either of the longer cruises offered by Tamar River Cruises, opting instead for the 50 minute cruise around the Launceston waterfront. The skipper on board provided reasonable commentry during the cruise, taking us around... More
