An informative commentary from our skippers will take you on a historical journey where you will discover the stories and tales that shaped Launceston and the Tamar Valley. Travel in to the heart of the Tamar and view the navigable section of the spectacular Cataract Gorge. Sample the delights of our local wines and cheeses as you view breathtaking scenery, world class vineyards, historical buildings, rural settings and frequent encounters of fascinating wild life including sea eagles, wild duck, black swans, pelicans, plus many other varieties of water-fowl and occasionally playful seals. One of our passenger recently commented it is like a moving postcard. It is certainly a 'must do' when visiting Launceston! « less

We did the 50 min cruise and it was a very pleasant trip up the river and into the Cataract Gorge. The commentary from the captain during the cruise was great. I would recommended for any visitor to the area.

A four hour excursion took us first along the Tamar Gorge -and back prior to heading downriver as far as Bateman bridge. It was interesting to see the riverside and wineries we had visited by road from the river and learn more about the communities and their history. Lunch was plentiful and tasty with various well -filled sandwiches , fruit,cakes... More

We booked and enjoyed the 2 and a half hour cruise up the Tamar River. Our skipper was Callum and he provided very informative commentary along the way. There is so much history in Tasmania and this cruise is a great way to experience it. During the trip we were offered constant coffee along with a morning tea. There is... More

Given the favourable reviews we thought we would try the 2.5 hour cruise that included the Cataract Gorge. The operators were friendly and professional and deserve 5 stars. We were offered nicely presented trays of fruit, unlimited tea and coffee and at the end, a tasting of three wines and a beer. Fine but the tour was a big bore... More

I stumbled across Tamar River Cruises in January when making my way across Tasmania. I thought it would be a great use of time, for the limited amount I had, to do some sightseeing from the river and learn something about Launceston's history. So I started with the quaintly named 'Lady Launceston' on Tamar River Cruises' 50-minute trip, which to... More

My friends and I booked our 'Tamar River Cruise experience' prior to flying down to Tasmania for a mini weekend break - Our experience was on the 2.5 hour Afternoon Discovery Cruise. We were beautifully greeted at the main office there, by Vonnie and her pomeranian Mr Bear - With having an hour between we were given plenty of options... More

Our skipper was very knowledgeable and we did enjoy the 4 hour cruise, and the partaking of morning tea, lunch, the Tasmanian Cheese and fruit platter served with Tamar Valley wine and Tasmanian Beer tasting together with unlimited tea and coffee. It is not cheap, but when one considers the cost of fuel and overheads for this cruise to be... More

Certainly not an unpleasant cruise and the boat was comfortable but the cruise itself isn’t anything special. The skipper was very friendly and knowledgeable, however the actual cruise itself was quite plain. I agree with Nomads2530, it is overpriced for what you receive. A 2.5 hour cruise in the afternoon that includes a muffin, coffee and tea and later in... More

Prices !!!!!!! Way to much for what you receive. I would give it a miss and spend your $$$$ on other worthwhile adventures. All day cruise $125 but it is only 4 hours!!!

Callum was very friendly and informative, and a good skipper. I learnt a lot about the early history of Launceston, the Tamar valley as well as the wild life - we even saw a pair of sea eagles up close. I enjoyed this boat tour.
