I highly recommend this 90 minute tour of the brewery. The tour is well presented with a knowledgeable guide. At the end of the tour you are given three 200ml full glasses of their beer to sample. Highly recommended.

Having already done a number of brewery tours I just wanted to sample the beers fresh from the source. There are 3 of their beers on tap (draught and XXX Ale/Wizard Smith's Ale which are only available in Tassie, $4.50 - $5 per middy) which you can drink walking around the 2 floors of free museum and the gift shop.... Fantastic light lunch menu and obviously fantastic beer. Great tour available for $30 that is very informative and includes beer testing and some cheese sampling. Forget the Wine Tours take the Beer Tour. Boags Premium and Tasmanian Brie, yummmm..

Who would have thought that you could have matched cheese to beer , J .Boag & Son have and they do it very well. You can try beers that are not available in shops. And the tour thru the brewery is great . Better than Cascades Hobart .

We went to the James Boag Brewery to join the tour, but decided against it due to the $30 price tag (and I've been on brewery tours before, so didn't think it was worth it for me, personally.) However, at the café, I had a tasting paddle for $10 which included a generous sample of 3 of James Boag beers.... More

I went there on a Sturday , There is no brewing on weekend, which is great. When they are brewing during the week , The decible reading is 125+ You still get to see machinery working through video screens through out. At the end of the tour you get to sample some great ales.

My wife and I went for the 3pm tour with 15 other random uni students. We had an awesome time, learning the history behind the factories, and the processes involved. We would highly recommended this to anyone who is wanting a quick tour of the place.

A really informative tour that takes you through the history and processing of Boag's. The best bit was the beer tasting - especially the ones only available in Tassie. Cheese was pretty good too.
