This was a brief stop on route to Launceston, found the place very well maintained, in a spectacular setting, we enjoyed sitting in the gardens over a delicious lunch and glass of bubbles, then walking around the lake watch the vast array of birdlife .

We have had lunch here in the past and enjoyed their sparkling wines. So this time we tried all the sparklings but in the end bought the 2014 sav blanc as it was wonderful. There is a sign about a $5 tasting charge but we were not charged this - we did buy wines and signed up for their club... More

My family and I visited this winery as our first activity on our Tasmanian holiday. The gardens were majestic. The staff were very courteous and polite. The wines were of a very good quality. It was a very enjoyable experience. We will definitely go back when we are next in Launceston.

I had been told by many friends that this winery was a must see so I was looking forward to my visit. Sadly, my visit was disappointing. I have no issue in paying $5 for a tasting but I expect the person serving us to give us some insight into the wines we are tasting. Clearly the lady serving us... More

I am not against paying for a tasting but when I do I expect some engagement and interaction with the winery. The girl was quite sour and just poured what we asked for with no explanation or information about the wine. Disappointing really. I had heard from a few locals that this place thinks it doesn't have to try anymore... More

A group of us travelling around Tasmania met for the most wonderful day of a private tour, tasting, a very long lunch and an afternoon chilling in the grounds of Josef Chromy. The service is exceptional with all staff being at the top of their game from those who run the tasting room through to the restaurant manager and the... More

Was on holidays from Brisbane and drove to Joseph Chromy after picking up our hire car at the airport at Launceston (as the place was so close). Had decided to visit after watching the delightful short series on TV called "People of the Vines", in which it was one of six wineries in the Tamar region they presented. Although the... More

When I visit the shop last week, the staff only focusing fill up the stock. And I was looking around, the receptionist talked to me until I asked her for wine tasting. And when I was tying different wine, asking what's the difference between two of the wines. The staff said:" It's really a big different." Then just stop and... More

We enjoyed a glass of champange and a cheese platter on the deck. Cheese platter for one was exquisite. Big piece of cheese, thin slices of fruit bread, four varieties of dried fruits, fresh grapes and wafer thin crackers. Plenty for 2 people to share. Josef Chromy is such an interesting man. He does come into the restaurant from time... More
