Started our day with a “Best of Mount Isa” Tour with our guide Jessee who was a wealth of knowledge on all things Isa. We then finished the day with a wonderful Sunset tour out at Lake Moondarra which is situated 17 kilometers outside of Mount Isa. Our guide Nicole was lovely and great company. We were joined by Fiona & Geoff from SA who are also now Facebook friends 😉 these are experiences you should add to your itinerary when in Mount Isa & next trip we may have a boat in tow 🤙

We had Rob (& Tricia) as our tour guides. It was a great way to see the city plus they access to the mine and we wouldn’t be allowed. It was great. Thank you.

My wife and I did all three tours and were were so grateful that we did. On each occasion we had a knowledgeable driver/guide who gave an educational commentary - full marks to Craig and Phillip. Everything was done so professionally and without fuss. Full marks also to the company, as each trip went ahead despite low passenger numbers - when you book you can be sure of going - minimum numbers do not automatically cancel a trip.

This was another activity at the end of a long day, but it capped off a fabulous day. Phillip, our driver/guide went out of his way to make our experience pleasurable and we appreciated his explanations as we were travelling and his knowledge, which he willingly shared. The snacks and drinks supplied while the sun was setting over the lake made for a perfect memory.
We were also grateful that on the way back to our hotel, Phillip drove us to a lookout so we could admire the sights we had seen during the day again, but by night.
He is a credit to the company.

We are experienced travellers and quite adventurous, but this tour took us to places we would not have thought about visiting. Craig was a great driver/guide who was a mine of knowledge and who gave us a better understanding of the town and its history. Full marks to him and the company.

This was a charming tour. Michelle was a delight. Steve the driver was highly skilled. The tour is however fairly unstructured. The commentary seemed ad hoc. The visit to the ghost town was do it yourself. We were taken to the town centre, given a map and left to our own devices. The only information was the big sign board.

The trip to the mine was exciting. The roads have not been maintained since the mine closed last century. The Coaster had good ground clearance. It needed it. We even did a creek crossing. It had rained heavily the night before.

The driver took us close to the mine and we walked the last few hundred metres. It was safe and easy. The mine has a huge pool of water that is very clear and quite cold, not to mention very deep. Drones are allowed.

After we left the mine we were taken to a roadside rest area where we enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea.

We returned to Isa and were taken back to our pickup points.

I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. We were picked up outside the visitor information centre. Despite the email telling us to be 20 minutes early, the operator only arrived 10 minutes early. He explained that Mount Isa runs on Fiji time 😁

Early in the trip we were given a potted history of the city from the first discovery of metals to its current status. We then visited a number of important sites. We alighted at the RFDS HQ but not at the tent house/underground hospital. Our next site was the suburb where the mine executives live. It is very well maintained. Unfortunately we could not see casa grande as an unknown VIP was in residence and the drive was secured.

Following on was a trip into the mine site. We saw an historic adit and two currently operational. Our guide explained all the important features of the mine. We had a stop at the station to take photos, despite the sign prohibiting cameras.

Our final call was the lookout where we gained panoramic views of the city.

The tour is well worth taking.
