The actual lighthouse area was closed as work is being carried out to create an eatery at the lighthouse but one of the workman did allow us to walk up the steep hill to enjoy the view. Fabulous views along the coast both north and south and along the river. If the actual lighthouse area is not open you can... More

Important Awabakal history as well as a current iconic landmark If it's open it's well worth a walk up the fairly step hill it has an amazing view. otherwise a walk out along the break wall is walkway pleasant. Providing a good view of the harbour Stockton beach and around the coast line as well as the walk back providing... More

Enjoyed a beautiful morning walk before breakfast in spring sunshine. Watched three tug boats escort a coal tanker into the port. There were lots of people out walking with their dogs and some in an unleashed area where the dogs could socialise and frolick in the water. They were having a wonderful time.

Famous Nobbys Lighthouse is worth the walk, but get your joggers on......no TripAdvisor, I can't say any more, you just have to go see for yourself!

The stroll to the top of the hill might be a bit steep, but it's worth the effort for the views at the top. It's not a race to the top, so take your time and enjoy the scenery on the way up. The cottages were all undergoing a make over when we went and will be quite respectable when... More

Nobby's lighthouse allows you to have a great view of Newcastle. We went there on a Sunday, after finding it open (it is usually closed to the public). It is a bit of an uphill hike to the top (I got a little puffed). The buildings were open for inspection. It was surprisingly run down. The buildings in disrepair. It... More

We often walk on the break wall from Nobbys and have wondered what it is like at the lighthouse. We were fortunate to catch an 'open day' weekend and walked up the hill to the cottages and lighthouse. What a piece of Newcastle history and what a view! Was a little dismayed at the state of the cottages and the... More

The lighthouse is built on a small hill at the mouth of the Hunter River, so you have a view up the river and across to Stockton on the other bank (accessible by ferry) as well as out to sea. In fine weather the walk to the lighthouse is a pleasant stroll along the breakwater, but can get a bit... More

With a gentle ocean breeze, a walk to the lighthouse is pretty nice. Gives a good view of the ocean, but pretty sure Eagle head pier over Redhead beach gives a better view.
