Garroorigang is an Historic Home - part of Goulburn's history for 158 years. Step back in time to a house which is full of Victorian and Edwardian furniture, books, and other items from those periods. It is still a lived-in family home for the Hume family (collateral descendants of Hamilton Hume), which is open to the public.

We also enjoyed a very informative tour of the main house ( well worth the $12 fee which was part of our accommodation package !) Yes there are a couple of recent small family photos in frames ( very few in... More

I joined a couple visting Goulburn for an inpromptu tour of Garroorigang HIstroric Home earlier this month. The couple were avid history buffs and keen to learn more about this amazing residence. Donna took us on an extensive tour of the property which included the homestead itself, the 'School for Gentlemen' and the homestead's historic rose gardens. Donna was very... More

I visited this house one weekday earlier this month, and took a tour. As another user has pointed out, this isn't really a museum; it's a private residence and still operates as such. The tour cost was unexpected - many of the local publications advertise it as free or 'entry by donation'. I also thought it overpriced at 12 dollars... More

Thank you for your feedback, which we appreciate. Garroorigang is definitely not a Museum. It is a lived in family home (unashamedly replete with photos of children/grandchildren among those of family ancestors), covering its 160 years of living Australian history. This is what makes it unique among historic homes open to the public. Although classified by the National Trust, and... More

What a great tour back in time. Had the pleasure of meeting Donna, our tour guide and a family member of this amazing house. A great way to spend the morning walking through the rooms of this historic house. The study us full of old newspapers and books which I loved. The gardens are full of flowers and each room... More

I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit to our lovely home. There is so much to see in the house and so many stories that it would take several visits to hear them all. Please come again when you are next in Goulburn. More

Off street parking. A rare chance to visit a historic homestead full of history, tradition, originality that has been in the same family for many generations. I'll say no more. See it for yourself. Well worth the visit. 10 out of 10

We were on a coach tour organised by the Tourist Information Centre. The homestead was not opened at the time, but it certainly looks an interesting part of our history. The driver took us right into the grounds so that we could appreciate the homestead and its grounds.

Fascinating story of the Hume family home told by the gresat great nephew of the great explorer. Only continuously lived in historic home in Australia. Very knowledgeable and interesting tour, amazing attention to detail with the decor plus a few additions such as beautiful Persian rugs from when the nephew was our ambassador to Iran. Some outstanding embroideries and needlework... More

This wonderful old house is not really just a musuem. It is still lived in by the family and their visitors,so therefore it has a different feeling to one that is just a museum. The family will show you around and have great stories to tell of it's history. during our visit we has morning tea in the gazebo in... More

An interesting historical home to visit - has been in the same family for about 150 years. And not much has changed (or been gotten rid of) over the years, which is what makes it special. If you like to step into the past, don't miss stopping by this home for a tour. How refreshing it is to find someone... More
