The Western Plains Zoo is a fantastic place to spend a day or the better part of a day. The animals are in large open spaces, look content and well cared for. I reckon its better to ride a bicycle or hire a cart rather thyan drive around as its a pain having to get in and out of the... More

We walked the zoo (about 7km) and it was great. If you drive it be sure to get out and walk up the paths to view the animal enclosures.

The 2 day entry pass is great- you need the 2 days to see everything. Everything is so clean, the keepers are so caring and passionate about the animals. You can see the animals from all over the planet without needing a passport.

We have been going to the zoo for about 20 years as we have family in Dubbo. Every time you go you see something new! Would recommend feedinga times and if you have a car - driving would be recommended as it can get warm and it's a long walk, especially for small kids. Everyone will love that you feel... More

We have been several of times. If I could recommend going during spring or autumn to avoid hot and sleepy animals? :) Getting s buggy wasn't value for money as they can't access further than a car can.... So pointless, really. We enjoyed the monkies most of all.... And the gorgeous hippo! A highlight for us was the giraffes! So... More

If you want to go to all the keeper talks you will need a second visit. Knowing we had the second day took the pressure off. The first day we arrived just before 9am with pre purchased tickets for entry & the Giraffe feeding. We went to all the keeper talks. (The last 2 were too close together but the... More

Took my Niece and Nephew to the Zoo as a treat, travelling up from Sydney. The staff were very friendly and we chose to drive our own car around as the ques to hire a golf buggy were massive and really not worth the amount they wanted to charge. We had made the right choice! As we learnt when driving... More

The entry into the zoo is poorly signposted to start with as is the parking arrangements. The staff were not at all helpful. We thought we might hire a pushbike each - they are so old and horrible and expensive to hire - we hired a golf cart ( it looked like it was going to rain). A lot of... More

This has to be the most amazing zoo I've ever been the animals all liked healthy and as happy as they could be. Hiring out bikes and being able to ride around is genius and I have to say the only way to do it due to the size of the place.although the lions and cheetahs weren't out its still... More
