Bicycle is the best way to see the zoo and allow a full day or break it up in to 2 short days. The bikes for hire are a bit old and run down and most don't have bike stands but it is still easy to get around. The experience would be better if the zoo provided bike stands at... More

For ten years my partner has told me how good this zoo is..?maybe it was built up too much, but I thought it was very poor.

The animal exhibits are world class and to take advantage of this there are various levels of accommodation to stay in. We have stayed in the Zoofari tents before and did the night time tour, and this time we stayed in the newly built Savannah cabins. The cabins are nicely appointed and self contained, with views over the savannah enclosure,... More

We had a fantastic 2 days here! We hired a buggy which just adds to the whole experience making it so much fun to get around this way. The animals are so well looked after-the staff are friendly and informative, it is obvious they love their jobs. We'll be back for sure.

Having visited Africa and seen the animals in the wild was a fabulous experience however if you don't have that kind of cash then this is the next best thing. My last zoo experience prior to this one was at the San Diego Zoo in California and I came away from there and was so depressed. The animals were in... More

Besides the fact that I think Melbourne Zoo is better, Taronga Zoo has great views across the harbour. Being such a hilly place it was great to see escalators along the way and the cable ride up offers stunning views of the city but we didn't see any animals as we went over their enclosures (they must have been napping).

I have visited the zoo over a period of many years, first as a teenager myself, then with my own 3 children and last visit was with our granddaughter. I have seen it develop from excellent to extraordinary. The zoo is set out in a way that ensures you see everything. The enclosures are first rate and allow awesome viewing... More

Have been to a number of zoo's worldwide and this one is up there with the best, in terms of interacting with the animals. I love how close you can get to them. You can walk the entire circuit in a few hours. But use the 2 day pass. (One ticket allows 2 days entry) You can walk, bike or... More

Good weather, quiet, plenty of walk, and of course the animals, the elephants, the hippos, and the rhinos…Great place to have a coffee.

We took a large group to the Zoo and followed the Zoo keeper talks - finding them very informative and interactive. The second day of the pass was used to quickly go around the zoo and see the various animals that we missed the previous day. Personal bikes are definitely the way to go.
