Absolutely brilliant. We do a lot of zoos, and this one is by far the best. All of the animals appear happy and healthy. None of them display the disturbing repetitive disorders that you see in many of the animals that are kept in cages in the older zoos. Here the animals roam free in huge enclosures. It's a pleasure... More

It's awesome to see the amount of room the animals have to run around, we saw the giraffes running around playing in their enclosure which is a sight I've never witnessed and was such a pleasure to see. Adult ticket prices is $47 which is valid for 2 days and you can go in and out as many times as... More

Interesting concept and the range of animals is good. Missed out on some of the large ones - maybe they were not on "show" at the time. Lots to see. Be prepared for some walking to view it all.

Get there about 9 so you can be involved in the feeding of the animals before it gets crowded. It is worth paying extra to feed the giraffes. The meerkats were great and I enjoyed the information provided by the keeper. It is worth going around pad twice with a break in the middle for coffee. The only disappointment was... More

We took 2 little kids under 3, both had a ball at the zoo. We spent 3 days there (minus the travel to get to dubbo) and could have spent more time there. Highlights were having a picnic with the herd of zebras grazing a few metres away from us, watching feeding times for lots of animals through the day... More

Western Plains Zoo has to be one of the best! I've visited lots of zoos around the world and sometimes been horrified at the conditions. At WPZ the animals have heaps of space in appropriately designed settings, they all seem healthy and happy. Creating an environment as close as possible to that natural for the species would be why the... More

We had a brilliant experience overall at the zoo and zoofari. However the food service left a lot to be desired. There is a high tea advertised, we enquired as suggested on the flyer and were told that 24 hrs notice was required. The halfway kiosk was closed - it apparently is every Monday- but we were not informed of... More

My husband and I had long talked about going to the zoo together and it was well worth the wait. We hired bikes (definitely recommend doing this), packed a picnic and fed the giraffes. The animals all look well cared for and have good sized enclosures (would just like to see an upgrade for the wombat though). Hoping to do... More
