One of the "must see" destinations in New Zealand. Most spectacular and stunning scenery to be found anywhere.Dont let a rainy day put you off, it enhances the beauty of this unique experience. We took the boat trip that included the power station visit.Just amazing!

We chose the early morning trip including the visit to the hydro electric power station. It was a spectacular day with so much to see and appreciate! The sound in the early morning was so atmospheric with low lying cloud. The commentary was excellent and we saw yellow eyed and blue penguins as well as NZ seals and lots of... More

So much more awesome than Milford. Opt for an overnight cruise from Firodland expeditions. You see and experience so much more.

We were told that the area is called "Shadow Lands" and the day we visited the sky was cloudy and the mountains grey - perfect. The journey over the lake, the trip to the power station and then the drive to Deep Basin did not prepare us for the beauty of Doubtful Sound, though we had been to Milford Sound... More

The tranquility and spectacular sites of Doubtful Sound showcase Fiordland. Spent 10 hours on a totally welcome, yet unexpected, sunny day with 'Go Orange' tour guide "Shaun". Shaun was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful throughout the day. Go Orange was conducting a promotional photo shoot, so we got to meet a few friendly managerial staff on the tour as well. Go... This was my second time taking the RealJourney overnight cruise. Don't miss it! The first time (5 years ago) it was a clear day and night. This time (in March) it was misting or raining lightly most of the time and it was as awesome as before - just very different. The staff are very friendly and the naturalist very... More

One of the most spectacular places to go in Fjordland, especially in a sea kayak. Highly recommend the overnight or multi-day trips of Fjordland Wilderness Experiences.

Not crowded; we saw 2 or 3 other boats on our overnight trip. A serene, pretty cruise. We went with Fiordland Expeditions. They will have up to 16 people on the boat. We lucked out as it was past summer season and there was only one other couple.

A beautiful fjord, tranquil and peaceful. With just one tour operator having access to Doubtful Sound it was much better than Milford Sound which was more commercial and less interesting overall.

Well worth the price. Boat across Lake Manapouri, coach over Wilmott Pass, Navigator cruise from Deep Cove. Saw rare penguins and more common seals accompanied by naturalist information by Josh, the resident expert. Food on board was excellent and the crew really worked hard and well as a team to make our experience enjoyable.
