We were a bit hesitant to book this due to the cost. However, it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and the experience made it worth the cost. The accomodations were adequate. The food was acceptable. We met many friendly people in the dining room. The wildlife sightings were great. The views of the fjiords in the early morning light were absolutely... More

No doubt one of the most amazing places on earth. Real Journeys go out of their way to make this tour special. We encountered dolphins swimming along the side of the boat and were taken to the edge of the Tasman Sea where deals were on an island. These touches by Real Joyrneys capped off a wonderful wilderness journey. Don't... More

my wife and I recently enjoyed a vacation in New Zealand and booked an overnight cruise on Doubtful Sound as a highlight experience. it was rather expensive but by all accounts worth it. We booked with Real Journeys and they impressed us with their service and professionalism. That is until we mentioned the terrible noise throughout the night due to... More

Was blessed with fantastic weather and that was all it took to make it perfect. Included the power station and would recommend to others to do that as well. Having done Milford Sound and the Glow worm caves this would rate as well as Milford Sounds. Were lucky enough to see dolphins, Blue (Fairy) penguins and seals on the cruise... More

We did an overnight cruise and stay on Doubtful Sound and it was our equal favourite trip of the whole holiday. It's so much bigger and Soooo much quieter than Milford so you can relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery. Our weather varied from bright sunshine to heavy cloud but Doubtful was awe-inspiring in both - probably slightly more impressive... More

You have to use Real Journeys land-based, but it's worth the price to see ... much more interesting than the much more crowded, much smaller Milford Sound.

Get a bus then a boat then a bus then a boat before you finally kayak on Doubtful for around 13kms. Then do the same journey in reverse. It really is worth it. We were awestruck for the whole day. The guide was informative and we had a small group making for a pretty relaxed day. It rained on and... More

The journey into Doubtful Sound is as good as the destination. Take a boat trip and be sure to bring a lot of bug repellent
