Positives: 1. The staff of Real Journeys were friendly and helpful and attentive for the entire two days. The naturalist was very interesting and knowledgeable and we learned a lot from her. 2. This was definitely an adventure, with a ride across Manapouri lake and a bus ride through the rain forest before you even get to Doubtful Sound. We... More

Rained from start to finish but did not detract from the great beauty of the scenery. Brilliant commentary on the sound by a naturalist more than made up for lack of wildlife

Snow capped peaks, gorgeous waterfalls, penguins, scenery reminiscent of Lord Of The Rings! Hope your visit has at least part of a sunny day.

We just came back today from our overnight trip on the Doubtful Sound boat. Very amazing, great guides with good knowledge and passion for what they do. Yes the weather... But hey, if you can't stand the rain, just don't go to the West Coast. It's RAIN forest for a reason, it gets a lot of rain! We had luck,... More

Doubtful Sound on a wet cold day is dreary and grey. I am sure it is spectacular when the sun shines. They have 165+ wet days a year . Check your weather. It is an expensive trip.

Tour operators quote it rains two days out of three in doubtful sound . So its an expensive day out to look at rain if you dont get fine weather such is nature . Maybe Milford would be a less expensive way to blow some money .

compared to Milford Sound this is a poor second. the cost of the cruise was excessive, the cost of the meal was high for what was delivered. a tour of the hydro plant???

We chose Doubtful sound and we loved the cruise. The water was very calm and we had a sunny day. Looking out at the snow covered mountains and the calm lake was fantastic. Because the water was calm the boat went further out to sea and back again.Great day had by all. The sound is very quiet lots of little... More

Went on this cruise with Real Journeys and it was an absolute dream. Such beautiful sights and opportunities to take some amazing photos. I was so glad they did a great job of keeping the on board toilets clean! :) The only reason I didn't score this as excellent was because of the power station tour between Lake Manapouri and... More
