It was freezing cold but totally worth it for the amazing views. We enjoyed the coach ride over the pass.

Brilliant trip to do just like Milford Sound. Boat ride and scenery is amazing and very memorable, simply a magic part of the world and should be on everyone's to do list. Good thing about this trip is a break in the tour to see the underground power station and the engineering feat to do it, if you get the... More

Toured with Real Journeys. They were very experienced and organised. Had perfect weather and saw Fur Seals and Bottlenose Dolphins.

It is such a beautiful place and the tour is set up really well. It was raining cats and dogs the day we went which meant lots of great waterfalls but you couldn't see very far.

We've been fishing in the Dusky sound (charter) for a week. Sailing from the Doubtful sound to the Dusky sound we caught our first tuna before we had to get the lines in in order not to catch dolphins. The charismatic skipper Richard (I think at least 50% of what he tells you is true) took us to all the... More

Took the full day trip with bus from Te Anau, with various methods to transportation to get to Doubtful Sound. No words can describe the experience. We were extremely lucky to have good, sunny weather (but a little cool). Real Journey's Day Cruise is well worth it. One tip: the weather can be quite windy on the fjord and bringing... More

My experience in Doubtful was a far cry from Milford Sound, the sun was shining (fairly rare) and the quietness of Doubtful was serene in comparison. Both a beautiful but I think the experience at Doubtful Sound was far superior. The food on the overnight cruise was amazing (and there was lots of it). Definitely worth the money and more... More

For those thinking whether to visit Doubtful or Milford Sound, would say do an overnight cruise at Doubtful, and do a day trip to Milford from Te Anau. Doubtful is serene and beautiful, while Milford is more dramatic. We went with Real Journeys. The overnight cruise was very well organized. There's parking at Manapouri, so you could leave your car... More
