Amazing scenery; good nature guide and overall a wonderful day. I recommend staying in Te Anau which makes a long day a bit shorter.

I loved being on the boat and seeing the islands up close. I was interested to see the underground power station too.

We booked on an overnight trip Fiordland Expeditions booked with Mandy and this was so efficient and on arrival we were met by Dave and Alan our crew for the trip. From the trip across the lake to the mini bus ride to the boat was superb and then the fun started on the boat with a comfortable cabin and... More

The overnight cruise on the Fiordland Navigator was an incredible experience. The boast is comfortable, the food is good and the crew great.

My friend and me went on an overnight cruise with Real Journeys during the off season for only $206. We loved every single minute of it. Doubtful Sound is just so stunning, it makes you realise how much we miss out on nature while living in cities. The nature guide was really helpful and always knew something interesting about all... We cruised the Sound on the Fiordland Navigator, a small sail rigged and diesel powered cruise ship. We were treated to two spectacular sunny days,, a starry night, a knowledgeable and informative captain and crew and bountiful meals. We took this trip at the end of our NZ vacation, and it was beautiful and restful after spending many days traveling... More

I strongly encourage ppl to go not only to Milford Sound but also to Doubtful Sound. They are both magical but Doubtful Sound is bigger and like some ppl say, the bigger the better :-) Milford Sound is more well known due to its closer distance which also means it's more crowded, whereas Doubtful Sound is more pristine, quieter and... We did an overnight sail with Real Journeys and we want to do it again. The small ship is built in the style of a turn of the century cruise boat and it quietly sales through the deep still waters bathed in mist and silence. The trip to get to the departure point was rather long but most interesting. Over... More

We did the overnight cruise there, it was absolutely wonderful. I think Doubtful Sound is a lot more magnificent than Milford Sound, the views are spectacular, you do not see any other cruise company and you do not see many tourist around at all. If you go there do the Overnight cruise, totally worth evert cent.
