Amazing overnight cruise with Real Journeys

Worth every penny or dollar! Such a slick & well run operation. The scenery was fantastic, the commentary by Carol our guide was superb, the food was out of this world. If you go... read more

Went on MV Southern Secret operated by Fiordland Cruises which offers a cruise and an overnight stay on the boat. Picked up from the hotel, short boat trip accross the bay, transferred by coach over the mountain to join the boat for the trip in Doubtful Sound. Lunch on board, sightseeing, fishing for bait for the lobster pots, fishing for... More

Worth every penny or dollar! Such a slick & well run operation. The scenery was fantastic, the commentary by Carol our guide was superb, the food was out of this world. If you go on this trip don't eat much before. From the minute you step onto the boat the food is amazing. Kayaking great fun, even in the rain.... More

We did Milford Sound on our last trip, 2 years ago. This time it was the turn of Doubtful Sound. We took the day cruise with Real Journeys, as we were so satisfied with the way the Milford trip was organised. We have to say that this company runs things like clockwork, from pick up to drop off. The bus... More

Definitely got more at Doubtful Sound than Milford Sound which I visited earlier. Mixed scenery of mystic waterfalls, sea birds, and history!

What an incredible experience! This was the all time highlight of our trip. We had such a lovely time aboard and were blown away by the beautiful sights. Not only did we see countless waterfalls, dolphins, seals and 1km high cliffs, but we enjoyed fantastic meals (part of which we fished right out of the water!), and got to know... More

We took the day trip with Go Orange, which was well organised and brilliant from start at Manapouri at 10am to return at about 5pm. Doubtful Sound is not as busy as Milford and is just as magnificent, plus you have the added trip across Lake Manapouri and the bus ride across the range. On the day we were there... More

I took the advice of a motel owner who knew Fiordland extremely well and drove to and from Milford Sound for photographs on the route but cruised Doubtful Sound because there was virtually no commercialism here. Having visited the power station during a previous holiday I decided to take the later cruise which missed this out although if you haven't... More

Small Boat with only 10 passengers. Overnight cruise.Room small (it's a boat!)but bed comfortable and bathroom clean. Food really good and plenty of it. Captain John and Tresda really looked after us. It was wet and cloudy but can't do anything about the weather. The Sound is beautiful. There was kayaking and fishing to do, unfortunately too cloudy to look... More

I have no idea why Milford Sound is more popular, but maybe its for the best. It keeps the Doubtful Sound magical with less tourism. I saw both and if you are wondering which one to do, pick Doubtful Sound, definitely. Sure, the journey is longer and more expensive but you get a lot more and a lot less for... More
