We were very fortunate to have a day trip on Doubtful Sound when the sun was shining and the water was calm. The Real Journeys vessel was spotless and the food and service on board mirrored the wonderful half day experience we enjoyed.

It was a misty day when doing the cruise however enjoyed every moment. Our bus driver was extremely knowledgeable about the area which was great. Just have to do it on a sunny day now!

Spectacular scenery with very little boat traffic. Hard to get to - only through a few tour companies, adds to the charm because tourism is limited. Wildlife (dolphins and seals) can be seen adding to the natural wonder of this amazing fjord.

This is an all day cruise, you take a bus to the boat - it is gorgeous - but be prepared it may not be perfect weather as it rains a lot but the waterfalls are beautiful.

I did it with Real Journeys and it was as good Saul with them very well organized and professional! Within the first boat, you received a lot of generic explanations, during the bus transfer, a lot more as your driver will be more a guide than a driver (a lot of interesting stops on the way back) and a an... Not as spectacular of Milford Sound, but beautiful in it's own right. Unfortunately, the weather was not the best when we were here, but thankfully it cleared nicely by the time we got to Milford.

Travelled with Real Journeys. Company arranged all the transfers from Queenstown, via Stewart Island and Te Anau and then back to Queenstown after the cruise. Lovely to have week without driving. We travelled on the large ship which holds about 60 people in contrast with other cruises which hold about a dozen. Size of ship did not detract from the... More

This trip was exceptional. I was reluctant to do it, but my husband insisted. We experienced the great beauty, solitude, and many waterfalls. We enjoyed being in a small group with personal attention. The food was excellent. Our room had a private bath with shower and was bigger than we expected.

We did the day tour with Go Orange, were picked up at 07:00, dropped at 16:30 - so it was a long day. We preferred Doubtful Sound over Milford Sound by far because - it's less touristy - it's more diverse - it's more quite - the entrance with the islands is much nicer In addition we were lucky, had... This might have been the best night of our stay in NZ. The boat is beautiful and Tracy and Dan could not be better hosts. From the moment we stepped on board,it was perfect. We ate lots of crayfish (rock lobster), fished, kayaked and enjoyed fabulous scenery. We also slept in comfort aboard a great boat. All was perfect. We... More
