We had an amazing time with Fiordland expeditions. We visited in mid- May when most other tour companies were not operating the overnight tours. This was a two day cruise and totally worth the expense. We stayed overnight in Te anau and woke up to get to the boat in Manapouri. About a 45 min boat ride, then a 30... More

If you only had time to do one overnight sound experience make it Doubtful. No hassle of tourist drivers in their campervans just relaxation and beautiful scenery without the frustrations .

This is one of the most beautiful places I have travelled to. It is peaceful and memorable. We were treated to the most wonderful scenery, a pod of dolphins, some fairy penguins and lone seal playing on the shore. The mountains are majestic as they lead you though to the Tasman Sea. We did a day trip with Real Journeys... More

We went on the overnight cruise & loved it from start to finish. Having never slept on a boat before it was all a bit of an adventure & the ensuite twin cabin was compact but fine. The evening cruise out to the seals was great especially when the sails were hoisted but the morning cruise was sheer delight -... More

MV Southern Secret, with only 6 e/s cabins, was surely the best means, to experience this magical place. Although it tipped it down during the first day, we fished for our dinner, hauled up the crayfish pots, experienced scores of spectacular waterfalls and had a superb dinner in the company of our 8 fellow travellers. The next day the rain... More

I did this tour with Real Journeys who were very well organized. Even though it rained for most of the day and there was low cloud, it was beautiful. The scale of the mountains is awesome, and as it had been raining for a few days the waterfalls were astonishing torrents with plumes blown by the wind - so picturesque.... More

From the moment we arrived on the boat we knew this was going to be a trip to remember. The food was delicious and incredibly fresh. The guys on the boat were friendly and helpful with everything we could possibly need. Having been to both, we'd choose Doubtful over Milford and with no-one else! Rainbows, waterfalls and dolphins galore what... More

We stayed in Te Anau, from which is was just a 20 minutes drive to Manupouri. The boat-bus-boat-trip was a wonderful experience. Wilmot Pass by bus was nicer than expected, but Doubtful Sound itself was exeptional. The mountains, dolphins, penguins, sealions and even a extra round at open Tasman See to see the Albatros. What a beautiful trip with Real... More

Myself and my boyfriend chose them as it at come highly recommended from friends and it did not disappoint. Dave the skipper and Shaun the crew were fantastic. I have been on the Milford Sound four times and loved it, but the overnight stay on Doubtful was just amazing. Don't dismiss Doubtful Sound, you might live to regret it!!
