The whole experience was most enjoyable and very efficiently organised. When we reached Doubtful Sound the weather was not good but it still looked beautiful. My favourite part of the trip was when the guide encouraged everyone out on to the deck, asked for all cameras, mobiles etc to be turned off and then turned off the engines. The silence... More

Our day started with light rain in Manapouri however 15min. later it cleared and we had a amazing trip by boat/bus to Doubtful Sound departure point. The commentary on the bus was informative & the scenery spectacular with many photo stops. The Cruise through the Sound was unbelievable!!! We were very lucky that the sea was calm enough to go... Everyone has said how wonderful this 24 hours in Doubtful Sound is - and indeed it is! What spectacular scenery, the Dolphins, our fishing of blue cod, the lobsters that were brought up from the sea by Dave, our skipper ... The fun crowd - yes 8 out of 10 of us were oldies but we had such fun and... More

Although the weather was not good for us we found the scenery spectacular and our trip, with 'real journeys' was an excellent one.

Brilliant day trip. Luckily the weather was good. A must see if you have the opportunity. Would like to do the overnight trip next time.

No Doubt About this Experience on Doubtful This 24 hour experience is certainly a highlight. Everyone connected to this company graduated from the school of "People Skills" with high distinctions. On the boat the 2 crew, Nigel & Josh, worked tirelessly and constantly - piloting, guiding, cooking and assisting with fishing / kayaks. And then cleaning up after us. Josh... More

We were due to go on this trip with a much larger company on a bigger boat, but they let us down citing they'd 'double-booked us'.- which turned out to be massively to our advantage. From the time we were picked up by Josh and driven up over the Wilmot Pass it was just one highlight after another. Not only... More

When we came over the pass and looked down on to Doubtful Sound we knew it would be something special. It had rained overnight but the day was warm and sunny when we reached the fjord. Must also say that the boat trip across Manopouri Lake and the bus ride over the pass add to the experience. Unlike Milford Sound... More

In a nutshell: WOW! A once in a lifetime experience! After crossing Lake Manapouri, we crossed the Wilmot Pass in a van with the other guests while learning facts and figures about the area from our driver Josh. At the wharf we boarded Tutoko II and were greeted by Nigel, our captain, as well as the other Josh. The three... More
