Of course everyone who goes to the south island must go see the Sounds. We did it on Kayak and it was quite good but you soon loose sense of the scale of the place. I would not recommend spending too long there but you have to go check it out! Make sure you bring insect repellent as the sand... More

One of the most well preserved and beautiful natural areas on earth. Try to go during the spring and summer months so that the area will be accessible to you.

If you want a cheaper option to see the Fiordland park then this is the place for you - it is amazingly beautiful and the boat trips that head out are well priced. The only downfall is that you might end up on a large boat with a lot of people - however go out of season and get cheap... More

Really enjoyed this trip. We drove from Te Anau, which is an excellent road and has many interesting sites along the route. I can't really describe the sheer majesty of the fiord - you will just have to go. We had a rather dull and windy day but it didn't matter. Also we only saw two sleepy seals. However it... More

Awesome & spectacular scenery. Enjoyed the 4.5 hr bus ride down from Queenstown, but the trip back was very tiring. (can't be helped - they need a blast through the mountains to make it closer!!)

Even in the rain (which it does 280 days a year), this place is magical. The waterfalls racing down the cliffs, the seals/sea lions and the richness of the place is one of nature's show places

We enjoyed travelling with Ray Horrell of Fjordland Tours. We were the only travellers that day but he made the journey fascinating and memorable - We will never forget the coffee break at Gunns Camp, meeting Lyn and Rob, also the mirror lakes and the Hidden falls. Then on to the cruise and up close to the magnificent scenery -... More

We joined the Real Journey cruise for Milford Sound cruise. Took 1hr and 45 mins. Overall the experience was good with very friendly staff on board. The scenery was stunning as always (this is my second trip to Milford Sound). And we were lucky as it was sunny. Unfortunately we didn't get to see any dolphins and only a few... More

We rented a car and drove from Queenstown. The total journey took us a little over 4 hours with no stops except for at Te Anau to top up petrol. We also skipped all the lookouts and took turns driving so I'd say the trip would take 4.5-5 hours if there's only one driver and if you wanted to get... More

We took a lunch boat cruise and thought it was well worth the price. The drive to Milford Sound from Te Anau is quite scenic and has many interesting stops along the way. Glad we drove rather than taking the bus.
