Was so pleasantly surprised by this little Cinema! The attached bar was phenomenal - with a great wine/beer/drink selection and a beautifully chic interior, fit for a bar in a hip metro area. The cheese plate was divine and I happily took the food and wine with me skipping into the cinema to watch the Fiordland aerial show. The seats... More

I am sure that this was a bad day at the cinema, but we went to see the film showing the majesty of the fiordlands...unfortunately it was out of focus. More

Visiting the Fiordland Cinema to see the half-hour Ata Whenua (Shadowland) film is a local experience unique to Te Anau. It is screened sufficiently frequently for you to pop in at almost any time of the day, even at short notice unless a tour group has pre-booked. Set to evocative music, the cinematography takes you on a 24-hour long journey... More

Firstly we were able to order drinks into the cinema, we order some cocktails which the bartender had mix according to set of guidelines. We enjoy looking at the mixing.... More

10 years ago this would've been amazing - now the quality of documentaries we see is so much better (i.e. Life). This is lovely viewing but not thrilling and no where near the experience of being in the middle of it - in person. If you are in Te Anau, go for a walk or proper hike (yes, even if... More

The film Ata Whenua - Shadowlands was completely unique. Breathtaking filming from a helicopter it showed the most amazing footage filmed in Fiordland. As seen only by chopper pax and pilots this is your ONLY opportunity to see unbelievable scenes such as these in the film. A bargain at $10, we came out dazed! More
