Super comfortable seats, nice drink selection, and wonderfully friendly staff. We really enjoyed the visuals in the short film about Fiordland, but we all agreed that the soundtrack was frequently in the way. Too much saxophone. Not enough information. Where the filmmakers used nature's sounds (esp. Approaching the waterfall) the sound was very effective. Still, we'd have preferred informative narration... More

We ended up in the Fiordland Cinema on a Snow day last week. We really enjoyed this short 30 minute film on the area. New Zealand is an amazing, beautiful country and this film says it all.

Going to the cinema was definitely not in my agenda while visiting Te Anau but during my journey at Doubtful Sound, a local strongly recommended us to go watch a short film about Fiordland - Ata Whenua which means Shadowland. I was intrigued and I got some spare time after returning to town from Doubtful Sound before catching the late... More

The movie on Fiordland is definitely worth seeing. A wonderful insight into the terrain and animals that inhabit the area. Amazing photography set to some great music.

This film was not well edited and the sound track was not well done. It seems to be one man's dream project and I don't think he got enough advice from experts in how to make films like this. Of course there is stunning scenery.... but it just didn't come together well. When I walked in I walked towards seats... More

Boutique cinema build especially to show the Fiordland film made locally. They now show major films too but only have 1 screen so limited. Seats about 50-60 people so cosy. You are able to take drinks in with you, seats are extremely comfy. Worth a visit if you have the time especially for the short Fiordland film costing $10pp.
