Even if you can't see the Fiordland landscape first hand, seeing the wonderful film (with music - no commentary) of it at this cinema will stay in your memory. Or it may make you more determined to see it for yourself. Cost is very reasonable for the film and you can enjoy a nice drink at the Black Dog Bar... More

We were the only patrons in the cinema and a nice experience when you have the entire cinema to yourself. The film was impressive but short. Would have given it a higher rating if the ticket price has been lower.

While in Te Anau it was suggested we go to the cinema to view this short documentary prior to our adventures. What a wonderful way to spent an hour. The cinema is small and cosy with a bar and open fire. Perfect for a pre show drink. The actual theatre is extremely comfortable. The film goes for 30 minutes of... More

A great way to spend your first 45 minutes in Te Anau - the sights and sounds of the film will transport you to the edge of the cliffs that you are watching, and your choice of beverage, will complement the film that much more. I had a nice red, which tasted, great!

Super comfortable seats, nice drink selection, and wonderfully friendly staff. We really enjoyed the visuals in the short film about Fiordland, but we all agreed that the soundtrack was frequently in the way. Too much saxophone. Not enough information. Where the filmmakers used nature's sounds (esp. Approaching the waterfall) the sound was very effective. Still, we'd have preferred informative narration... More

We ended up in the Fiordland Cinema on a Snow day last week. We really enjoyed this short 30 minute film on the area. New Zealand is an amazing, beautiful country and this film says it all.

Going to the cinema was definitely not in my agenda while visiting Te Anau but during my journey at Doubtful Sound, a local strongly recommended us to go watch a short film about Fiordland - Ata Whenua which means Shadowland. I was intrigued and I got some spare time after returning to town from Doubtful Sound before catching the late... More

The movie on Fiordland is definitely worth seeing. A wonderful insight into the terrain and animals that inhabit the area. Amazing photography set to some great music.
