How gorgeous. Just stunning. Really gives you a sense of being there. Loved it. Would highly recommend it to anyone visiting this area.

This cinema has around 60 seats and during the day plays an excellent 30 minute audiovisual film of Fiordland National Park (note, no commentary). For $10 NZD it is worth some of your time. In the evening, they convert to regular cinema ($15 NZD) with a relaxed bar in the foyer (you can take your drinks in with you) and... More

Our visit to the Fiordland cinema was a last minute decision on a rainy evening in Te Anau...and gosh was that a great decision! This small cinema provides a classic cinema experience second to anything I have ever experienced... Food (cakes with whipped cream, gourmet ice cream etc) and drinks (wine, coffees, soft drink) are served not in plastic and... More

Local cinematographers and helicopter pilots shot some great footage of Fiordland National Park. The movie plays often at the cinema. It is only 32 minutes but fantastic especially if you are an 'armchair' adventurer as it will take you into pure wilderness. Go for it!

The Fiordland 30 minute film at the Te Anau Cinema was Fantastic. The filming is amazing, it feels like you are right there, it was mesmerising. The Cinema is attached to the Black Dog Bar which is a nice place to sit and enjoy a drink or mulled wine in front of the open fire before the film. They also... More

Even if you can't see the Fiordland landscape first hand, seeing the wonderful film (with music - no commentary) of it at this cinema will stay in your memory. Or it may make you more determined to see it for yourself. Cost is very reasonable for the film and you can enjoy a nice drink at the Black Dog Bar... More

We were the only patrons in the cinema and a nice experience when you have the entire cinema to yourself. The film was impressive but short. Would have given it a higher rating if the ticket price has been lower.

While in Te Anau it was suggested we go to the cinema to view this short documentary prior to our adventures. What a wonderful way to spent an hour. The cinema is small and cosy with a bar and open fire. Perfect for a pre show drink. The actual theatre is extremely comfortable. The film goes for 30 minutes of... More

A great way to spend your first 45 minutes in Te Anau - the sights and sounds of the film will transport you to the edge of the cliffs that you are watching, and your choice of beverage, will complement the film that much more. I had a nice red, which tasted, great!

Super comfortable seats, nice drink selection, and wonderfully friendly staff. We really enjoyed the visuals in the short film about Fiordland, but we all agreed that the soundtrack was frequently in the way. Too much saxophone. Not enough information. Where the filmmakers used nature's sounds (esp. Approaching the waterfall) the sound was very effective. Still, we'd have preferred informative narration... More
