A wonderful lake which makes a lovely lakeshore for Te Anau, the little town on the border. More

While we weren't in town long we definitely spent our fair share of time walking the lake. For dinner one night we grab a couple of meat pies and some wine and had a little picnic by the lake. It was great. The next morning while walking the lake we came upon 2 rainbows. More

We liked the food, our motel (motels in NZ are nothing like the US...they are much nicer!), the people, the town and the gorgeous view of the lake in the morning. More

Do not miss the sunrise or sunset at Lake Te Anau, they are fantastic. I was there in the Autumn so they are pretty late around 8am so they are much easier to see. The lake itself can be walked a good length and has mountains all around. A lovely place More

Gateway to Milford Sound. We did a 2 hour hike at the Fiordland national park and it was a great experience. The town of Te Anau is lovely, beach water clear, the whole place looks so clean just like everywhere else in New Zealand. More

Lake Te Anua is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places we visited in NZ. There were plenty of hotels and eating places in the vicinity.
