A lovely lake.

Unfortunately we were not here long enough to take advantage but there are beautiful walks around the lake and lots to see and do.

Lake Te Anau is so big and so blue.. and is borded by spectacular mountains and forest. At daytime we strolled along the lake for some time. Besides a lot of birds it was very quiet. And some big trees needed to be taken pictures off. Haha. But the most beautiful part was the sundowner we experienced on the second... More

Beautiful, peaceful, stunning lake and lovely to walk from Te Anau towards the start of the Kepler Track

The friendly locals, nothing to dislike. The drive down to Milford Sound was amazing and the boat trip on the Milford Wanderer was something I can recommend. This trip was something that was organised by Real Journeys for us.

I always enjoy Te Anau. It is the real New Zealand, comfortable, lovely, slow paced. Plenty of parking, good tourist shops without being overpriced the way they are in Queenstown.

A pretty little town showing good hospitality to tourists who pass by or stay a while. Has all the shops that one needs for retail therapy, eating out or getting souvenirs. A great lake for sailing on with many little inlets to explore and an active Yacht Club.

Having travelled all the way to Te anau and making arrangements to stay for three nights, the lake itself was a bit disappointing or maybe my expectations were too high. It is the second largest lake and the lakeside walk for 5 kms was not too spectacular. The boating activities were minimal and generally was a bit dull. Other than... More

The lake is pure and still. Plenty of birdlife to be seen and you can walk along the shore for miles. close to the city centre at one point and the visitor centre is on the shoreline

Lake TeAnau is absolutely beautiful. The grounds around the lake were clean and well maintained by the city.

There is so much to do here, float plane rides, visit the glow worm caves, cruise along the lake or just relax on the grassy banks and watch the world go by.
