Yes it is a nice lake. To all angry New Zealanders who seem to think everything is NZ is "the best in the world" because your world is NZ, please do NOT send me nasty private messages. Just returned from Guatemala where we go to volunteer every year. The moment Lake Atitlan came to view, once more we realized what... More

This freshwater lake takes pride of place at one end of Te Anau town site. Whilst it was a bit too cool for swimming, in summer it appears to be full of boats. Worth the visit.

Lotsa and lotsa water. Left Pearl Harbour for West Arm powerhouse visit then to Deep Cove. Sand flies left me alone - good. Good commentary from the Real Journey's boat skipper. Made me wish I had paid more attention at school geography. A privilege to be here.

Beautiful lake and beautiful small town. Cosy and quiet. Good for a relaxing vacation. Don;t forget the Milford cruise when you are there.

The bird sanctuary is absolutely worth every family's time. My teenagers put aside their cell phones and paid attention to the birds and the posted individual story about each one. The lake's large cedar trees on the shore are beautiful. The female paradise shelduck in the sanctuary was extremely friendly and loud with my 13 and 15 year olds photographing... More

I really enjoyed my trip in NZ. I stay 3 days in Te Anau. One day hiking, one day Milford Sound and one day Glowworm Caves. Is a nice place with good restaurants, nice sorroundings and amazing landscape.

This location is full of surprises for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of tourist towns like Queenstown. It's an easy drive and full of activities and sights to marvel. The lake offers lots for all, there are trails to walk, bus tours to Milford to avoid the icy roads, accommodation, shops - small range... More

This is a lovely lake, which we had high expectations from. However, we found it had more features of a sea bay rather than a lake, with high waves and winds. We took a cruise on the lake to the glowworm caves, but as the cruise was after dark, we could not really appreciate the lake. The nearby lake Manapouri... More
