The town of Te Anau is well placed for any tourists planning on visiting Milford Sound, which is approx 120 klms to the north. The town has an abundance of hotels, motels and guest houses and so your choice of where to stay is very extensive.(our motel review has been done separately). Again you are spoilt by the choice of... More

Lovely lake, great to just sit and look at or walk around on one of the hiking trails. We also travelled down by boat to the caves which was also nice.

My long drive into Te Anau was rewarded by the tranquility of Lake Te Anau. The lake is surrounded by gentle footpaths and it is a perfect place for long leisurely strolls. Of course that would not do for my wife and I as we were itching for a run after a long drive. So we got suited up and... More

Most of the the Lake is within the boundaries of the Fiordland National Park and the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site. This is a pristine wilderness area that should... More

We had terrible weather while staying, but as long as you don't mind the cold, there are still lots to do, indoors or outdoors. Also nice shops, lovely friendly people, ready to assist you when you need advice. We stayed for 4 days & we're sad to leave

We had a wonderful time hiking around this park weaving close to the water and then inland again. This incline is mild and views are 360. Our whole family enjoyed it.

A great place to locate if you are wanting to do the Milford or Doubtful Sound tours. Also a terrific launching pad for many of the great walks in the Fiordland National Park.
