We went on the BBQ Bus tour on May and the experience was horrible. First, the 4 hour ride out was very long and not fun. Nick, our guide, was very knowledgable but there was no interaction with anyone on the bus. I believe this had more to do with the group of people on the bus rather than Nick.... More

Went with owner Nick with our US college field trip. Nick is an encyclopedia of knowledge of the area and narrates the whole bus trip. On top of this , you have a great barbecue as well. It was one of the highlights of our stay in New Zealand. More

The Real Journeys tour was full on the day we wanted to go, so we opted for the BBQ but, despite the fact that is seemed a bit cheesy. IT WAS NOT CHEESY. My friend and I took the BBQ tour just yesterday. Nick the tour guide was exceptionally enthusiastic and gave lots of info to us on the 6+ hour drive to Milford Sound ( this includes several nice stops along the way, including a basic but very nice BBQ lunch by a creek in the middle of the fjordland national park).... “Was worth the trip!”

It's a long trip from Queenstown to Milford Sound, but the driver made it interesting. He doubled as driver and cook as the bus stops in a lovely park near beautiful Gunn Lake and he cooks on the BBQ. Then later they put you on a boat to see Milford Sound. All I can say is you won't be disappointed!! More
