We had a large group dinner, sheep shearing, and a sheepdog herding demonstration. The tables were beautifully set and we were served rolls and the best butter mixture along with a delicious soup at our table. The rest of the meal was served buffet style. There was a lot of meat but the piece of beef that I got was... More

I suppose there is a possibility that I am remembering Walter Peak through rose colored glasses, but, my, oh my, was this a highlight of our trip. In my earlier review of the TSS Earnslaw I related about how we booked this excursion at the very last minute and how over the moon we were with our decision. What would... More

After a wonderful ride on the smoke belching coal fired TSS Earnshaw, a 100 year old steamship across Lake Wakatipu we landed at Walter Peak Station for a wonderful buffet style lunch and experience with sheep, wool and sheep shearing. We had a special visit with Bess, the sheep dog who had just had a great group of eight puppies.... More

This was a memorable experience, travelling on the lake in the TSS Earnslaw, a lovely welcome, when we arrived, tea overlooking the most glorious view, lots to see, and heaps of wonderful photo's to look back on. Queenstown is stunning.

We travelled over to Walter Peak on The Earnslaw relaxing to the piano playing which accompanied us. The views are wonderful we did the farm tour and morning tea though you could have had a BBQ if you had wanted. We had a really interesting farm talk and a demonstration of sheep shearing. A very intelligent dog showed us how... More

Combining the TSS Earnslaw boat ride over to the Walter Peak Farm makes for a highly enjoyable day. Relax on the boat taking in the views as you travel across Lake Wakatipu. You can explore the boats engine room while you travel. There are refreshments to purchase on the boat. Also, for our trip there was a wonderful lady playing... More

Beautiful part of the country and welcoming hosts. We did the farm tour and afternoon tea with the hosts. I have captured it all on video and have some lovely photos and footage. The hosts made it very special and seemed genuinely interested in us. Would highly recommend

Our trip began at midday when we boarded the Earnslaw steamship out of Queenstown and began our journey across the lake. This steamship from the Victorian era has been lovingly restored with oilseed wood and gleaming brass. The engine room can be viewed from above and within, and the four boilers are stoked regularly by hand - fascinating. For those... More
