There's over 110km of cycling trails connecting Queenstown with Arrowtown, Lake Hayes and the Gibbston Valley. As I was based near Lake Hayes there were many options to ride the trails and I varied the routes each time I went out, shortest route 20kms and the longest was 47km. The Arrow River Bridges trail was my favourite for views, along... More

Grab a bike from one of the numerous bike rental shops. Trail is purpose made and well signposted. Starts at the main beach on the lake. Well signposted and free maps available. Headed up the Kararu River to the Shotover intersection and return. Mostly even graded gravel. Only hiccup is when the trail heads up along river due to closure... More

We rented mountain bikes and biked the trail from Queenstown round the lake beyond Frankton to the other shore. Undemanding path with the best views and that lovely mountain air - take it at your preferred pace. We were happy with half day rental (5 hours), still had plenty of time for a picnic lunch and decent ride.

This is a fantastic ride with nice trails and beautiful scenery to walk or to bike. If you are biking, there are some hills, not much though.

I found these trails very easy to ride on. With a plethora of bike hire shops in Queenstown its easy to grab a bike and go exploring. The trail is wide enough to easily pass pedestrians or other riders and there is plenty to see along the way. Although the trails are gravel and not tarmac they are smooth enough... More

Having cycled around Holland and Europe for 9 weeks in 2013 we had been thoroughly spoiled with cycle paths, cycle path GPS navigators and a genuine respect for cyclists by the people of Europe. We couldn't believe that here we were in our own country with cycle paths rivaling and views exceeding that of our European experience. Beautiful, graded paths,... More

This is a fantastic addition to the town. I was especially impressed with the facilities along the way. Toilets, air hoses, info sign boards. Its been done really well.

We have a none bike riding family. We hired bikes from Arrowtown bike hire and off we went. These are unbelievable trails. They offer great views and so often you just have to stop and go aah. Hills are not bad and you can walk up them. This is such a great addition to a haven in New Zealand .... More

Made a short walk from Frankton to town around sunset. What a relaxed time with good view just next to the water. It takes 30-45 minutes, depends on speed and time stopping for photos. Highly recommended.
