The scenery of Skippers Canyon is without a doubt a subject you will talk about. You are picked up from your hotel in a comfortable 4WD Minibus. You visit this secluded area in small groups. Your local Guide provides a commentary about the Goldrush Heritage of Skippers and serves some refreshments with cheese. Plenty of photo stops and short walks make this sightseeing experience truly unforgettable. Daily departures from Queenstown.

Wolfie our guide was excellent with his knowledge and driving skills. It was a scary trip that will be one of our favorite trips in our 30 days in New Zealand. I would highly recommend this trip as one that falls into the category of a not so touristy event.

An optional tour on my visit. You travel by minibus from your hotel on the back roads. The scenery is amazing. You visit the location of the gold mining areas and end up at Skippers for Morning tea. The guide Arthur was really wonderful and very knowledgeable. If you want to see the real history of the region and get... More

This was the best optional tour from our 10day tour of the South Island. Wolfy, our guide and driver, was friendly, knowledgable, entertaining and a skilful driver. The Canyon was breath-takingly beautiful. He even brought tea, coffee and chilled white wine together with cheese and biscuits and cookies for our mid morning break. Do not miss this.

We spent the most fascinating 4 hours with Graham our tour guide from Queenstown Heritage Tours as he unravelled the history of Skippers Canyon including the evolutionary development of flora and fauna, the evident geological history, tales of local characters past and present, revealed otherwise hidden landmarks AND drove us safely around that terrifying single lane track through the canyon.... Had read an earlier review of this trip and had to do it! Wonderful experience going up and back into the back country, but glad the drivers are very experienced! The road is really one lane on the edge of the mountains, but they make it look easy. Views are terrific. History of the gold rush fascinating, and amazing that... More

After researching the different alternatives for touring Skipper’s Canyon, we decided that the Unforgettable Skippers Canyon offered by Queenstown Heritage Tours covered everything that we were looking for, and we couldn’t have been happier with our decision. Not only does the tour take you further into the canyon than all of the other tours, it also offers a picnic with... More

This may be not the best advertised tour in Queenstown, compared to the Shotover boat trip but this ONE TOUR YOU SHOULD NOT MISS. It combines a superb 4WHD bus trip through the high mountain track, not suitable for cars, although a public road, down to the waiting jet boat for an exhilarating high speed trip up and down the... I booked this tour knowing it may be scary for me considering I'm afraid of heights. Let me say that I'm glad wine was served with tea when you reached Skippers. The views are absolutely amazing. Those on our tour who weren't scared of heights absolutely loved it. Not only does the view take your breath away...so does the road...especially... More

Due to bad weather our original plans for the day were cancelled. We called Unforgettable Skippers Canyon Tour to see if we could quickly book something else. They were so accommodating and quickly made arrangements for us. Wolfgang, our guide, picked us up shortly after our call and we had a fabulous tour with him. Of course the sights were... More
