and there are so many!! We had spent 4 weeks in Queenstown, and from the Catlins to Milford, Franz Joseph, Kaikoura, Akaroa, Oamaru, Dunedin and lots of other amazing places on the South Island our trip to Skippers Canyon is among those at the top of our list. Our last day here was a trip along Skippers Canyon road in... More

Definitely one of the most memorable tours we had. Our guide wolfie is truly knowledgeable about the area. He is always enthusiastic in explaining to us the history of skipper canyon. It was just 4 of us on the tour so the small guide to tourist ratio was a huge plus. The views were spectacular. The Shotover river and its... More

I was lucky enough to do this tour on Good Friday 2014. It was the most amazing experience and a must do for every visitor to Queenstown- worth every cent of the price. The scenery was spectacular, the road was incredible and Arthur was an excellent guide with great local knowledge. Refreshments provided at old township of Skippers and handy... More

Take the half day trip up Skippers canyon outside Queenstown. it is the scariest road I have ever been on however the driver was amazing and had been doing it for 18 years. The reward is that the scenery is among the best you will ever see.Another advantage is that it will look great in all weather conditions. 4 hour trip... I did this tour on Saturday April 5th 2014 - I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone and everyone. Our driver Arthur knew the road and despite the drizzly weather that morning, I always felt very safe. He knew the history which he shared with us. This is the best way to see back country history around Queenstown and was... More

Our group of 23 had an amazing day out with Wolfie and his band of merry guides, each of whom were fantastic tour leaders who clearly love doing their job and have a passion for the history of the place. This pride certainly shone through in their thoroughly entertaining commentary along the way and made the experience all the more... More

This was an option on a tour and was definitely worth doing. The tour guide/driver was very knowledge able and quite witty while commentating and driving over a very rough and narrow dirt road.Perhaps not a trip for those without a head for heights but nonetheless a very enjoyable, educational and worthwhile trip.

We had a wonderful and somewhat extended morning tour. A great experience, a wonderful, knowledgeable and funny guide (who is also a skilled driver). Plenty of awesome scenery, plenty of geological and historical facts, plenty of interesting discussions in conservation issues. A great experience and highly recommended! Queenstown heritage tours is a very good operator!

Skippers Canyon is a relatively less well-known tourist attraction in Queenstown. We were lucky to learn about the place before visiting the city, and thus booked a tour with Queenstown Heritage. It was worth every cent! We went for a morning tour, and the day we went it was really sunny. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking; the ride was bumpy... More

Although the day we visited was drizzly and foggy, the views were spectacular. Nice afternoon tea when we arrived at the old school-house. Very informative tour guide with historical information along the way. The road is quite narrow with steep cliffs, and there was very few places you could let other vehicles pass. It is good to go with someone... More

It is so very true that we can't make the weather and the Sun always adds her special touch to the area. But, as you mentioned, I share your views on misty and foggy conditions: they just simply add something mystical and most certainly something truly unforgettable! thanks for sharing your experience.
