After a great trip on the TSS Earnslaw, watching the sheep shearing and mustering, we enjoyed a fantastic BBQ lunch in the Colonel's Homestead Restaurant. Fantastic value, fantastic food (more than you can eat) overlooking the lake. Recommend booking the whole three as a package.

This is the third year that we have taken this trip in beautiful Queenstown to Walter Peak Farm. Previous trips have been absolutely fantastic but this time it seems someone has decided to really lower the standards of the smorgasbord lunch to a point where it is very poor. No fish or in fact any seafood at all, no vegetables... More

We’re sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy the food at Walter Peak as much as your last two visits. We have significantly upgraded our facilities over the last two years and now offer a gourmet BBQ menu, which may not be what you experienced on your last visit, but it has had overwhelmingly positive reviews, both from new and... An outstanding experience. The trip over on TSS Earnslaw to Walter Peak Station has breathtakingly beautiful views. Queenstown is stunning! Arrive at Walter Peak Station and are ushered to our BBQ lunch. Seated outside, again STUNNING views. The food is buffet but of beautiful quality. Beef, Chicken, Pork all cooked perfectly, great variety of salads and other sides. Drinks service... More

We book a tour on the steam boat for a BBQ dinner not too sure about going on a boat might get seasick but it was pleasant. Sailing across the beautiful jade lake with a picture perfect scenery you can't go wrong. Once arrived we were well greeted by the farmer and staff. The buffet food was amazing, there's a... More

This trip is really outstanding. A magnificent cruise on the Earnslaw steam boat across Lake Wakatipu to the Walter Peak Station. The boat is stunning and the views match. The food at the station is first class and the sheep show to follow the lunch is good - hosted by real shepherds and their dogs not posers pretending to be... More

Thank you for your five star review. We're pleased to hear you enjoyed your trip to Walter Peak and that you didn't get off the boat! We have passed on your comments about the photographers to the company that offers that service - Magic Memories. We agree that it is unacceptable and thank you for bringing it to our notice.... Dear Janice We are disappointed to see your terrible review given that your husband returned and bought two tickets for the TSS Earnslaw cruise after it was posted. We are sorry for any misunderstanding you experienced. Unfortunately, the pass (Real Rewards card) is a locals privilege and visitors from outside Otago/Southland are not eligible (this is clearly stated in the... More

Booked on recommendation of i site in Dunedin. Great decision. relaxing trip, with superb scenery enhanced by great weather. Very good BBQ lunch at Walter peak Farm, and enjoyable singsong on the way back. Great to have access to see the workings of this coal fired steam driven 100 year old ship. A real piece of history.

It was a wonderful lunch to top off a great visit to the farm. Great selection of salads and vegetables and topped off with all the BBQ meats and chicken. The desserts were great and sweets unlimited which the children enjoyed. A perfect setting by the lake in a wonderful old homestead.

We went on the 10am cruise to Walter Peak station that included a BBQ lunch and farm tour. Best thing we did in Queenstown! TSS Earnslaw is well maintained, and a step back in time. Homestead is beautiful, lunch was ample and gourmet (for a buffet) and the sheep shearing/herding demo was very interesting. Don't hesitate to book this.

This was a really cute experience. Great for all ages, really. The cruise is 45 minutes from Queenstown to Walter Peak High Country Farm. There is a couple of open areas to view the steam engine. There is food and drinks for purchase. There is piano playing and sing-alongs. Really fun. Once you get to Walter Peak, there is a... More
