Kayaking the sound gives you so much more than the cruise does. If you can only do one, do the kayaking! Rosco's is the oldest and best. Our guide Courtney had so much experience and knowledge to share. They provide all the clothes necessary - which is great because I went on a cold, rainy day and stayed much warmer... More

We did the Stirling Sunriser trip - its an early start and a long drive to get out to Milford, but kayaking is definitely the best way to discover the Sound. We checked in at the lodge and followed our guide Harlan to the dock where we changed into our sexy thermals and spray jackets. I was worried about being... More

Rosco's provides transportation from Te Anau for an additional $30pp. We opted for that since it was an early morning drive and we knew we were going to be tired pre and post kayaking. Car ride also very educational and informative of the Milford area. Rosco provides you with all the gear needed to kayak minus shoes. Milford gets rained... More

Spent a very wet morning with Courtney guiding us through the fjord. She was very knowledgable and you felt safe under her care. The kayaking experience was truly awe inspiring. Even though we went on a rainy, low cloud day which made photographing it impossible, we were totally floored by the scenery. There really isn't a bad day out there.... More

Beautiful, serene scenery. professional set up. Gerard was a great guide - very knowledgeable. We saw seals, a penguin and mollymocks. Highly recommend.

Alotta fun. very helpful team. Great views, great waterfalls. Not much food at or around the launching point so be sure to bring plenty of snacks with you.

Went in April just as it was getting cold. Lucky for us the day was crystal clear without a cloud in the sky, although it was a little chilly. However, it is known as one of the wettest places in NZ so be prepared for this when booking; not all days will have been as beautifully clear as mine (although... More

Fantastic paddle back on a beautiful day in Milford Sound chilling with the seals. 14kms is relatively far but it's so worth it; the only way to see this amazing fjord.Courtney was an amazing guide and we'll definitely be back.

The Stirling Sunriser was one of the best things we did in NZ. Ricky was a fab guide and made us all laugh as we kayaked with seals and under waterfalls in the incredible scenery of Milford Sound. You get such an amazing perspective of the Sound from a kayak and it beats the packed tour boats hands down. If... More

John-O was such a fun guide! He was knowledgeable, super friendly and upbeat –really helped with lifting our spirits despite a cold and rainy day at Milford. He was also very patient with helping everyone get set up with gear and making sure everyone was feeling comfortable on the kayaks. He was good at engaging with his participants in banter,... More
