For the past 6 months I have been trying to convince my boyfriend to do a horse riding trek with me. When we arrived in Dunedin he finally gave in! Hare hill gave us a perfect experience. My boyfriend had never ridden before and Oliver and Cheryl matched us up with ideal horses. We did a scenic harbour trek which... More

If you want to avoid the crowds from the cruise ship and do something different, then I highly recommend horseback riding with Hare Hill Horse Treks. Our ride was very private (just my husband, myself and our guide). The scenery is just beautiful and the ride was very enjoyable. Don't worry about your horseback riding experience, they will cater to... More

The day we were scheduled to do a beach ride, the weather was unseasonably awful. It was raining and the winds were 25-35mph. We arrived at 8am and were immediately invited into the Goldsmith's home and offered coffee and toast. We chatted about horses and New Zealand for a bit and then joined Oliver up the hill to feed the... More

Prior to our cruise around New Zealand, I researched horseback riding opportunities at various ports and found Hare Hill Horse Treks in Dunedin. We reserved a ride with Oliver Goldsmith via their website and through emails. Oliver met us at our cruise ship and drove us to the ranch. Three of us had a wonderful 2-hour ride high up into... I've been having joint Riding lessons with a friend here for the past few months, and Oliver is such a wonderful person and teacher. We always leave our lessons feeling a sense that we have achieved something and that we want to go back for more as soon as possible!! We also did a beach trek with Sheryl recently and... More

We booked through Oliver earlier this year and it was my intention to give my girlfriend a trip on a horse again, something she had not done for a while. I organised the beach ride for us both. We were collected from the ship and driven to their place before picking up the horses. We had a gentle ride along... More

What a great experience. I took my seven year old daughter for a riding lesson as a special treat. Oliver was very friendly and a fantastic instructor. My daughter had a wonderful experience while I enjoying relaxing in the beautiful setting.

To be honest, I was terrified about the thought of getting on a horse and trekking along hillsides, but from the moment I arrived I felt welcomed and reassured about the experience. With my gentle giant, Harry, eager to get on his way underneath me I was given some sound advice on how to handle my new ride including how... More

We booked ahead online as we were passengers on a cruise ship visiting for one day. Oliver picked us up from Port Chalmers promptly at 10am and drove us back to his property. We were fitted out with appropriate riding gear and spent a lovely half a day with our friendly guide Cheryl and our two beautiful horses, Harry and... More
