Nothing special about the scenery. Just some mountains that are full of weeds. The photo of the water fall is a lie. There is no water fall anywhere at all. The old train is nothing special either. Probably worth 5 bucks to kill time, but not $72 to be ripped off. more

I did this trip from Queenstown to Dunedin. The company picked me up from a convienent location in Queenstown by bus first. The bus trip from Queenstown is about 4 hours long and goes through some lovely places, the bus driver was fantastic and had lots of information about the areas you pass through. We booked our trip for September online. All of the staff that we met (or corresponded with) were very customer responsive, helpful and friendly. I took the trip duing of the downpours in February 2005. The train is old and full of character and the staff were very friendly. There was a commentery throughout the trip up and there were several stops along the line for you to get out and take photos of the gorge. The platforms in between the train were large... more
