Well curated to make for an interesting visit. My grandchildren have enjoyed return visits - oddly enough to the extensive "stuffed bird and animal" section at the far end of the building. (Not easy to find.) The Southern Land and People exhibit on Level 3 (I think) gives a wide perspective towards what makes Otago unique. All this is free.... More

Well worth the money to visit the museum, discovery world and the butterflies. Kids of all ages love it as there is so much to do and watch.

Have been heaps of times. Great because it's free, so you can spend a little bit in the cafe (which is delicious/great coffee). On weekends they have a play area for kids, with couches for a rest for the parents. Love looking at the old stuff and seeing how far technology has come.

We very much enjoyed our visit to the museum. There is so much to see that it is a bit overwhelming, but our favorites were the Maori cultural artifacts. Worth a visit when in Dunedin.

I was pleasantly surprised that there was no entrance fee. I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits on the local area, Micronesia and the Maori. You are able to take pictures without using a flash. I would highly recommend visiting this museum. The museum gift shop had reasonable prices. My friends enjoyed the soup at the restaurant.

This museum is an absolute must for anyone visiting Dunedin. It's a great way to get a sense of the history of the city from its first settlement to the present. Displays are very interesting and many are interactive. Fantastic!!

The museum is well laid out with plenty of visual aids and interactive exhibits. Well presented museum with lots of information and interactive exhibits. I found it brought home the fact that NZ is not a very old country in terms of colonisation . The early settlers were certainly resolute in their pursuit of founding a new life for themselves... This museum was impressive, and we needed parts of 2 days to enjoy it all. The maritime section is quite thorough, with interesting facts and artifacts relating to sailing and navigation we have not seen anywhere else. Sections on Maori voyages, history and culture, and historic and current NZ native wildlife, were also very extensive and informative.
