We found Dr. Joanne Harrison through a friend that had toured a few weeks ahead of us. She met us at the dock of our cruise ship and escorted us to see the Moeraki Boulders. Marvelous site to see. She was very knowledgeable about the geology behind them. Then we were off to the sanctuary for Yellow-eyed penguins. Dr. Harrison... More

Joanne's knowledgeable, friendly manner and tour plan made our exploring of the Otago Peninsula & surrounding area a truly terrific experience. She expertly drove and guided us through 8 hours of sightseeing, walking, observing, a little climbing (Organ Pipes), and we even had time for a fish and chip lunch. Oh, and she made yummy biscuits and real coffee for... More

We spent a great day with Joanne sightseeing, learning and exploring. She's accommodating and highly knowledgeable about everything from geology, sea life and history. You travel in a very small group and can get within 5ft of the penguins. We observed their feeding times and travel up and down the cliffs of the peninsula. Numerous seals use the area for... More

We took the Wildlife, Dunedin City and Scenic Highlights Tour with Dr. Joanne Harrison as our guide. The Eco Sanctuary was fascinating and we enjoyed seeing and hearing about the Moeracki Boulders. We saw lots of fur seals but only a few yellow eyed penguins – but one spent the entire time posing for us. We highly recommend Joanne as... More

Joanne offers very small tours in the Otago peninsula and because of that it feels very cozy and personal. She has time to answer everyone's questions and adjust to everyone's needs and demands, a luxury that you rarely get on a guided tour. She has a good knowledge of the local wildlife and geography so she was able to provide... More

I am so glad you enjoyed your tour with me; your experience is just what I am aiming for with my tours. Just one minor correction, the tour was up the coast North of Dunedin and not of the Otago Peninsular, which is just the strip of land running along the southern side of the harbour. I do offer tours... More

My partner and I had a wonderful time with Joanne. It was only us and one other couple on this tour. It was a full day of activities, where we really got to see and learn about the local habitat and wildlife. Dunedin and the surroundng areas are trully beautiful. Joanne took us to the santuary, we had a lovely... More

Not only is Joanne friendly and accommodating, she is also very knowledgeable and was eager to share her knowledge of the area as well as the local flora and fauna. Our Dundedin and environs tour of 6+ hours began at an overlook that offered a view of our cruise ship in the harbor. Joanne filled us in on some area... More

Dear Ellie, I'm so glad you enjoyed your tour with me and thank you for the lovely comments. I'm really sorry you didn't get to see the penguins, I thought we had seen three that day and hadn't realised you didn't all see them. In future I will check more carefully to make sure everyone can see. Also just a... More

My wife and I shared an all day tour with Dr. Joanne Harrison in her very comfortable van. As compared to the stock cruise ship tour, it was much better, we did not fight any crowds and saw some really neat sights. We went to a semi-private penguin sanctuary as that was our principle objective. We also saw the famous... More

Whatever else you do when visiting Dunedin, enjoy a day tour with Joanne Harrison. My wife, sister and I regard our time with her as a highlight of our New Zealand tour. Celebrity made a shambles of disembarkation at Port Chalmers so although we had agreed to meet Joanne at 9am it was 10.15 before we boarded her very comfortable... More
