I had a wonderful trekking tour with Chris on a Wednesday morning in early November. It was by far the highlight of my trip to Dunedin. We had a great hike in fairly cold wind but otherwise sunny day. Chris was incredibly knowledgable about the plants and wildlife on the Otago Penninsula. We got so close to sea lions and... More

The family and I spent a terrific day with Chris from Back to Nature Tours, NZ......spending time with the seal colony near Dunedin and touring about the local sights. We throughly enjoyed the day and would recommend Chris and his tours to anyone.

Prior to our cruise around New Zealand we did extensive research about what we wanted to do at each port of call. One of the things that was top of our list was a walk of some description that would be long enough to burn off a few calories. We decided the coastal walk that Back to Nature Tours offers... More

We were on a cruise to Australia and New Zealand, and I did not want to take one of the big bus tours - and saw this tour group on trip advisor - what a great experience!! There were only 4 of us on the tour for the day. He had so much information to give us and really took... More

The Royal Peninsular Tour is a wonderfully rewarding way to spend a day in the Dunedin NZ region. We had a day in port on our cruise and decided to book this tour instead of booking a shore excursion through the ship. It was a small group tour, professionally led, in a beautiful area of New Zealand.

A wonderful day spent with Les who drove us thru the city of Dunedin. The railway station was beautiful. We saw many yellow-eyed penguins and seabirds. We visited a castle that had beautiful flowers and gardens. The day was well paced and enjoyable.!!

Daniel picked us up promptly at Port Chalmers and began our tour with a stop in Dunedin at the beautiful railway station ( and opposite the Cadbury factory!). We then headed on to Baldwin Street, the steepest street in the world, and on to Allens Beach where we spotted a New Zealand fur seal lying on the sand. We also... More

We chose this tour because of the many recommendations and the fact it toured the city of Dunedin. We live in Dunedin FL USA. It was a great tour. The Dunedin Railroad Station was larger than ours and the steepest street rivaled San Francesco’s. We did get to see baby penguins while the HAL tour did not see them. A... More

I recently returned from a 2 week Holland America cruise of New Zealand. I contacted Chris Roberts about a private tour for our group of 14 for Dunedin. He not only planned and scheduled our Dunedin stop but set up two other tours for us at other ports 'o call! He even gave us a discount for scheduling multiple tours... More

While cruising in NZ and Australia aboard the Celebrity Solstice we stopped in Dunedin and enjoyed a day tour with Back to Nature Tours. It was a wonderful experience and our guide Daniel was fantastic, giving us a wealth of information on Dunedin and New Zealand from immigrants perspective as well as insider information on the penguin reserve where he...
