A place of tranquillity and beauty, magnificent rose gardens and well kept gardens fringing the Avon RIver. Sadly the house is closed, but is due to be restored after the earthquakes.

The food was great. The whole area was a joy to look at and be part of. The Old Homestaed had a delightful feeling of permanence and grace.

The house is closed for repairs but the grounds are well worth a visit. Flowers are wonderful and the houses on the other side of the river are stunning.

Although the house ,which normally would offer drinks & food, at present is closed for earthquake repairs the grounds are worth a visit with the possibility of a punt on the river.

Beautiful spot where you can spend time walking among the beautiful flora and fauna of the South Island. Some damage to the facilities from quake activity but the gardens & ponds are a beautifully maintained area. Not many other visitors on the day we visited so it felt like a private tour. Definitely recommend for garden enthusiasts!!
