As I was walking from my motel to the city down Victoria St, I was greeted by this clock, that survived the great earthquake! For memory, I think it has stopped ion the time the earthquake happened??

When we stayed at Christchurch we could see a very unique clock tower from the living room window. It was an antique clock set on a grey and brown stone tower. Later when I did some research, I found out the city used this clock used as part of a monument to Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. This clock was moved... More

Built near a crossroads, I spotted the tower while walking from the central historical district of the city going to eat across the road at the Harlequin Public House Restaurant for dinner. As I spotted the clock, I went out of my way to view it and see the fantastic architecture. I was told that it was practically destroyed from... More

Crowning the junction between Victoria Street and Monument street, this is a lovely piece of restored architecture. It is really lovely to look at amongst the building site which is Christchurch.

Having driven past the tower on an almost daily basis, it now looks amazing. The damage in the 2011 earthquake left it in a quite dangerous and pitiful state. It is now pristine remaining part of Christchurch's heritage.

Took us a while to find this clock with the many detours in the surrounding streets but find it we did, and took the obligatory snapshot to record the visit. Did not realise the significance of the restoration etc until I read the recent reviews post the trip - we would certainly have had a closer look to better appreciate... More

The clock tower was damaged in the 22 February 2011 Christchurch earthquake, with the time (12:51) stopped on the clock's face. The restoration has included deconstructing each of the tower legs. The tower’s spire was also straightened, strengthened and reinstated. A great little architectural gem. There are many eating places within walking distance of the clock tower.

Finally we managed to see something which was not in ruins. The clock tower looks good despite there is still fence around it, but it is very nice and hopefully back to normal soon.
