While nothing too special, this is a great place to get away from the hussle and bussle of the city centre

Is quite a big park. There are sports fields, lake, Avon river, botanical gardens, lots of trees. Nice place to relax and do some outdoor activity. We were staying at Riccarton, The Chateau on The Park Hotel. Can actually walk from here to city center, takes some time but can be easily done. City center is still a big reconstruction/rebuilding... More

A beautiful expanse of land to enjoy with a pretty little river to walk along side. A great location near the Botanic garden and museum.

Hagley Park is either the 2nd or 3rd largest park of any city in the World I understand. It is just under 500 acres. With in the park there are sports fields including Rugby ,Soccer ,Netball, Tennis , Hockey, cricket & a golf course. There is also a small lake which is popular for remote control model sailing. The Avon... More

Yep, the first of the daffodils are out now! It will only get better for the next 6 weeks or so, as other flower buds burst open and the foliage of the trees (oaks, maple, and ash) again green the overstory:-)! As zhuhai2007 mentions in "Daffodils" it is well worth the effort to get out for a visit to the... More

Having Hagley Park in the center of Christchurch is great, it allows sporting and social activities, and is good for a walk around. Not a huge amount to see other than trees and grass but botanic garden has a playground and can feed the ducks.

It is nearly Spring! At least that is what the famous daffodils in South Hagley Park are trying to tell us. Because of the mild winter they seem to be flowering earlier this year. The Jonquils and snowdrops are already in full bloom in their massed plantings, with individual daffodils making an early appearance. The easiest access point on foot... More

Biked it and loved it: people walking, biking and running all with winter sports gear on. Kids in prams, dogs sniffing, golfers playing; young and old, families or strolling alone - this is a wonderful expereince.
