Taking the ferry over from Lyttelton (which takes Christchurch public transport cards) and wandering around Diamond Harbour is a delight. A few nice wee cafes, good picnicking spots, and a safe beach.

Took the ferry from Lyttleton to Diamond Habour in the morning. It was $12.40 per adult return. You then walk to where Godley house once was. There are 2 places to eat. We enjoyed a tasty lunch in Chalfont café and bar, it has a very good menu. The other place was too hot to sit in as it was... More

While visiting Christchurch, please take the time to visit Diamond Harbour, you will not regret it. Catch the regular bus service from the Christchurch Central bus depot to Lyttleton. Once there, have a good look around this very old shipping port & you will find it is full of very interesting history, like Sir Robert Falcon Scott who sailed from... More

The ferry across from Lyttelton is an experience in itself. take your bikes onboard then cycle on back to Lyttelton. The two cafes in Diamond Harbour both offer tasty foods and staff are very caring of the older folk we took on an outing. Every so often there is a local market on the old Godley House site - the... Diamond Harbour is on the Banks Peninsula about 45 minutes from Christchurch. I had been previously with my husband but drove there recently with my daughter & enjoyed the drive just as much on this occasion. The jetty is cordoned off but you can park the car and have a short walk around the harbour-side. There is a super cafe... More

Beautiful drive to Diamond Habour with one turn after another bringing up lovely coastline views. LOTS of road works and sometimes very lengthy delays. The village itself was quaint but nothing special to see. The gardens were pretty but again nothing outstanding. A good place to go for a Sunday Drive for an ice cream.

We took the bus to Lyttleton and the ferry to Diamond Harbour. There are a variety of walks signposted and we walked down to the beach and the up through the wood to the road. Lovely cafe, sat on a sofa and watched the world go by. Very relaxing friendly place.

Whether you travel by road or take the ferry from Lyttelton, Diamond Harbour is worth a visit for a meal, coffee or just an ice cream. Pretty as a picture especially on a sunny day.

If you are looking for a nice drive not too far from Christchurch ! Drive either through Lyttleton Tunnel or to the very end of Colombo Street & over the hill to Governors Bay. From there follow around the Harbour (right) to the other side to Charteris Bay & onto Diamond Harbour. You can call into Orton Bradley Park (in... More

Nice and quite. Good cafe and easy to reach via the ferry which only takes about 5 minutes from Lyttelton... We rode from Lyttelton to Diamond Harbour and being short of time hoped on the ferry to return.
