Very good and informative commentary about what was happening in Christchurch post the quake a few years ago.

Hopped on board at Stop #17, paid for a ticket, and enjoyed a great 50-minute ride on the newly repaired tram. The conductor gave a fascinating narrated tour. He was there when the cathedral crumbled and the building across the street pancaked during the 2012 earthquake. He told shocking and inspiring stories and was clearly proud of his beloved city.... Just the done thing to do when you have overseas visitors and an excellent way to go and stop around our ruined city. Good to see them back up and running!

The trams help to bring back the start of normality in an otherwise most abnormal city centre, where damage is almost universal. The trams are great to see circulating again, and it is comforting to see them trundle around the new track past the Re-Start Mall. They have five vehicles, each one unique in it's own way, and the fleet... More

Yes, the fare is somewhat high for the distance travelled but that's not why I catch a guided tram ride. It is to experience the flavour of a place, listen to the guide's interpretation of the information (and hopefully some of their personality comes through), and take note of places to come back to (especially if time is short). My... More

I had an hour to kill before going to the airport, so decided to spend $20 on a 50-minute round trip on the tram. It was pleasant enough, and had mildly interesting commentary. The ticket lasts 24 hours, so I know I didn't get full value from it.

The trams are quite cool to take a trip around town in and see what's going on. The trip is less than an hour and costs $20 each for 24 hour ticket. For us, this was expensive, especially when you can walk to most of the places on the ride quite easily. It is unlikely that you would want to... More

Poor Christchurch is still devastated from the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. The tourist trams are up and running to a large extent and I was very happy to support them.

The trams themselves are lovely throwbacks to an earlier time, but after that, this attraction represents poor value. It's $20 per adult, lasted less than 30 minutes, and covered the same route we walked in about 40 minutes. I don't recommend it unless your a real tram car aficionado.
