"Le Sud"

Great play, excellent acting, laughed all the way through. Added bonus went on opening night finishing with cheese & crackers and Champagne.

I was lucky enough to win tickets to the Court Theatre's recent production of Romeo and Juliet through a photo competition. The staff were so kind and hospitable. I'm an international student studying in Christchurch for the semester and I was really hoping to see some theater before I left New Zealand - what a perfect production to see! The... More

When people think about Shakespearean plays, they usually think "boring", "too long", and "hard to follow". The combination of arcane language and obscure similes and metaphors make Shakespearean English sound like a foreign language. Finding the true emotion behind the words becomes a challenge when one cannot decipher what the words mean! Consequently, viewers can't relate to the characters or... More

Very funny show with incredible acting talent. Definite 'what if' situation. Most enjoyable. Dialogue was in both French and English, but you didn't need to know French to understand exactly what was meant.

A small very intimate theatre with audience very close to the actors. Our choice this time was the comedy Le Sud and what a great hilarious play, very topical in more ways than one. Very reasonable ticket cost with Senior rates. Enjoyed a drink before the show. Booked and paid online, times and days play is on made this easy... More

If you are in the Christchurch area for a day or two check in to see if The Court Theater has a current play. This is truly a place that displays the resilance of the Christchurch community having taken over ex-warehouse space and turned it into a friendly and comfortable live-theater space. The play we saw while somewhat edgy was... More

Christchurch is extremely lucky to have a world class live theatre, especially given the hurdles the theatre has overcome since the devastating earthquakes. We are regular supporters. However in fairness would have to say that the 2014 season thus far is not their best work, including three recent comedies, Plum, You Can Always Hand Them Back, and the current production... More

I really loved this place. I'd heard it was only a temporary structure whilst the "real" theater was being re-built but it didn't feel temporary to me. A great feeling throughout and really nice helpful staff.

Ben a few times now and it's a great place to see a show or play. Each time it has been excellent and a credit to the fact this is a temporary home!

The Court Theatre is a true icon in this City. Great productions with a wonderful variety of plays and most cabable actors and production crew. I hope to see Shaw's "Arms and the Man" performed again in the near future along with such evergreens as "Little Shop of Horrors" , the ever classic and entertaining "Rocky Horror Show", and just...
