Christchurch Botanic Gardens are a wonderful place to stroll through and relax after touring the city. There are many places to picnic and benches to sit on. The Avon River goes through the gardens also, so it is a convenient place to tour while you are waiting to go punting. more

Christchurch is very proud of its botannical gardens which are very near the city centre and quite large. Hagley Park which houses the botannical gardens is quite large - so make sure you head for the 'botannical' bit which is round the back of the museum, otherwise you could end up strolling around numerous football pitches which isn't very interesting.... more
