For anyone who is even remotely interested in history, military or otherwise, the museum is well worth a visit. The displays are very well set out and provide a lot of detail of the history of the New Zealand Air Force. There are also several aircraft on display in the museum, as well as a cockpit simulator for those who... More

Im not in to planes but this was well worth the visit. The gentleman who volunteers at the entrance was fantastic and as a former pilot was more than insightful and enthusiastic. Great gift shop. Donation was happily paid as it was such a wonderful exhibition. Highly recommend for all ages.

It was poignant coming here on Anzac Day and seeing and talking to some of the WW2 veterans. This is an interesting place to come and learn about the history of the RNZAF and the development of aviation. I’m amazed at the courage of those early aviators and what they were prepared to fly in. The kids enjoyed the Mosquito... More

A very well done museum, both informative and fun. Good for all ages, take advantage of the guided tours as well as the new behind the scenes look at the history of the RNZAF and some the planes. Thoroughly enjoyable.

We were trying to kill some time over the Easter Weekend and started at the Wigram Air Museum. Admission is free and we thought it would be good to kill an hour or so. Four hours later I had to be dragged away for a meeting that we had planned with family. Despite the free admission there is a $10... More

Even though the entrance to this museum is free, there were very few people there the day we visited. I believe most people think this is just a place full of airplanes -- this is incorrect! Through exhibits and aircraft, it gives you a wonderful history of aviation in New Zealand and if you take the Behind the Scenes Tour,... More

Great museum. The planes they have stored away in there are a must see, and there are some excellent rides & activities for kids. Fun to step into such a crucial time in history. The new building was in progress while I visited. Would love to return once they've moved in.

We found out about the Air Force Museum on a leaflet and after some begging on my boyfriend's part I gave in and we went to see the boys toys. Although the museum is free we made it just in time to do a tour of the restoration workshops which costs $10pp. After a little while I even found myself... More
