You want to experience a small taste of the modern polar experience?.......Well,picture this......The room is chilled to 25 degrees below,so you can brave the simulated storm or take a ride on the Hagglund vehicle used to get around the ice. The audio visual on the Scott Base is superb and the penguin encounter lets you get up close and personal... More

Thanks for taking the time to write a review and for your kind words. We are incredibly lucky to have an all-weather attraction where it's dry and warm on rainy days and wonderfully cool and air-conditioned on the very hot days. The Penguins are little cuties arent they? More

I have visited the Antarctic Centre on 5 occasions. A great learning experience for the kids (from 3 - 16yrs). The behind the scenes talk and visit of the penguins was wonderful. The huggle ride is thrilling and bumpy fun. The 4D movie expericence was a great new addition. I must also mention that the gift store and the cafe... More

I liked the short movie, small museum and a quick ride. Tooooo Expensive. My son liked the blue penguin i bought him as a remembrance. Could have spent time some where else.

I loved this place and would definitely recommend it to a friend. We done everything, tha haagulund ride (not sure how to spell) and the private penguin tour which let us into their little enclosure to see them up close and get nifty photos!

Thanks for your review. So you did the backstage pass and got up close with our cute little friends? They are quite wee characters aren't they? Glad to read that you enjoyed your visit and hope to see you again. More

Rather small and the highlight being the penguins was rather disappointing because they were napping. 4D show was rather short.

Thanks for taking the time to write your review. Your comment about size makes me wonder if you didn't quite get all the way around - it's generally quite easy to spend a few hours enjoying all the attractions and exhibits here. We are looking to simplify our map and make signage more visible to ensure visitors don't miss anything.... More

We( 2 adults, 2 boys aged 10 yrs & 11 yrs) had initially decided to spend just a couple of hours here on the day we flew out of Christchurch, but are glad we made it a 3-4 hour trip instead on another full day. You definitely need that much time to fully enjoy all the attractions the centre has... More

Thanks for taking the time to write a review and I'm so glad to read that you all definitely made the most of your visit and had a great time. I do hope you also got to experience the Antarctic Storm? It's another great attraction here and blows through the snow and ice experience every 30-60 minutes. More

We loved the Antarctic Center. Allow plenty of time as all the information is very informative. The Hagglund ride is an adventure and the Little Blue Penguins delightful. The geology, geography, history and politics of the area are all well explained and very, very fascinating.Experiencing the cold, and stormy conditions in the weather simulator is a total shock but well... The Antarctic Centre is filled with interesting information in an interactive environment. The kids (2, 11 & 12) and adults of our family really enjoyed the Hagglund ride and penguin feeding. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

This was expensive especially for a family but I can't say we didn't enjoy ourselves as we certainly did. The ride is really fun as is the storm simulator and the penguins are very cute. Penguin feeding time is the big highlight so make sure to make one of the slots. At the end of the day you'll of had... More
