Unfortunately we didn't realise there was a free bus until we shelled out $40 to take family of four from CBD to centre in taxi and saw it - complete with penguins on the roof! Anyway the Antarctic Centre is great and definitely developed and grown since my last visit sometime in the mid 90's. Lots of different, hands on... More

I had been to the Antarctic Centre as a child and all I could remember was getting a soft toy penguin in the gift shop so I had been wanting to go again as an adult. I love Antarctic history and everything about Antarctica. I was a little dubious cos I had heard mixed reviews about it but I still... More

Great place for all, singles, couples and families with kids. Took about 3hours to see and experience everything plus had good food choices as well. Close to the airport, so a good place to go before taking off.

What's the big amazement of the Antarctic centre? This is one of the first place tourists will see within entry to Christchurch! "Embarrassing" there is nothing to do, it stinks, it's dated and the whole place is falling apart. The layout was confusing. We are not happy considering the small fortune we paid. I do not recommend this place at... More

We appreciated the obvious care and commitment that's gone into the displays, but they were just not entertaining enough. Small penguin display, an "arctic blizzard" that was more like just being stuck in a cold dark room, and not much else. The hagglund ride was fun, but too short... not worth the over $100 entry fee when compared to other... More

Discounted tickets on booking.com. 9 year old said: "so awesome". Grandad said "definitely worth seeing" and Granny couldn't believe she sat in the front for the ride!!!. Pity they were so disorganised at reception on arrival.

A fantastic attraction. Visitors will know what the weather and climate of the south pole like after visited the Centre. The Hagglund ride was very well organised as such we didn't waste time in queuing for the ride. Also we can viewed the penguins, experienced the changes of four seasons in the Centre. Also a free shuttle bus will pick... More

Who knew before visiting here that snow in the Antarctic isn't wet? A fascinating interactive exhibition centre - lots to do for all ages and suitability for people with mobility or health problems for some of the activities is made clear. The staff will help you buy the most economic ticket for the time you have available and what you're... More
