It's the ultimate Antarctic adventure! Experience the dramatic seasonal lighting in the four seasons of Antarctica show where it 'snows' every 6 minutes. Venture out on to 'the ice' from Scott Base to play in 'Antarctica' the snow & ice experience and survive an Antarctic storm! How long can you hold your hand in the icy Antarctic water? Hang out with Little Blue Penguins, buckle up for the famously exciting Hagglund ride, take an awesome simulated 4D Antarctic cruise, watch Happy Feet 4D, then watch a stunning movie on a MASSIVE screen! It's the closest you'll get to Antarctica without mounting your own expedition!

We visited this great attraction outside the airport as we had just picked up our hire car. It gives a marvellous explanation of the many expeditions to the Antarctic, including a chilling experience in a snow storm room. The little blue penguins were another highlight.

We would use that in Canada. We were looking for the Antarctic Experience and this seemed to be the place to get it. After buying our tickets, we headed to the Hagglund ride. It started off slowly and then hit the test track. It was a blast. The rest of the museum consisted of a few static displays, the aforementioned... More

My family visited here and we had a ball. There was so much to see that we simply ran out of time. Loved the wind chill room and the ride in the arctic tractor. My daughter liked the penguins who are apparently - very cute. Even the afternoon tea was really good too.. My group ranged from young teen to... More

If you can't visit the Antarctic, then go here. It's the next best thing! We found the exhibits well done and unique. They had 2 films that really almost put you in the base station. The penguins were live and the cold room will give you the real feel of 40 below zero.

we had a fun time experiencing the Antarctica Centre including taking a ride in the Hagglund. The vehicle's all terrain and floatation capabilities made a great ride. The layout lets you tour at your pace to further explore specific interests whether it be geology, weather / seasons, research, or experience a refreshing storm or the 4D theatre. Lots to see... Very interesting place to visit. A 4D movie. Watching the penguins being fed. Plenty of things to see and read about. Go on the Hagglund ride - awesome fun - hang on! Nice cafeteria too!

Stayed next door overnight and took the opportunity to spend the afternoon before we flew to Fiji.. Well worth at least 3 hour visit.

Interesting place. They have a cold room and penguins on display and history about Antarctic. I felt the attraction was way over priced for what you receive for the entrance fee. The staff was very friendly and helpful and I noticed there was good access right through out the place. Sadly this is a attraction I would not recommend. I... More

Located just near the airport, this was our last stop before leaving New Zealand and was a great way to end the holiday. The staff here were really friendly and gave us a discount despite us losing our voucher. There is a lot to see and do for all age groups so make sure you leave enough time. If you... More

This is not a big museum, but some fun things to do. Highlights were the Hagglund ride (Swedish military ice transport vehicle) and the 4D movie (4D because you get water sprayed on your face several times and wind gusts in the theatre). The displays weren't very detailed. Expensive at $56 per entry for 2-3 h of entertainment. The Centre... More
