It's the ultimate Antarctic adventure! Experience the dramatic seasonal lighting in the four seasons of Antarctica show where it 'snows' every 6 minutes. Venture out on to 'the ice' from Scott Base to play in 'Antarctica' the snow & ice experience and survive an Antarctic storm! How long can you hold your hand in the icy Antarctic water? Hang out with Little Blue Penguins, buckle up for the famously exciting Hagglund ride, take an awesome simulated 4D Antarctic cruise, watch Happy Feet 4D, then watch a stunning movie on a MASSIVE screen! It's the closest you'll get to Antarctica without mounting your own expedition!

Like almost everywhere in NZ, the staff are friendly and helpful; always a good start. We loved the penguins, the Antarctic storm experience and especially the ride in the Antarctic vehicles. You can easily spend a couple of hours here, and learn a lot!

Well done and interesting, but just thought it lacked "something". Disappointed that the penguins at the centre were not even found in Antarctica, but you can go to Auckland and see the Emperor Penguin at Kelly Tarltons. Just seemed expensive for what was there.

Top tip: Check out online deals & vouchers if feel too pricey. As NZ is the international gateway to Antarctica, it goes without saying that they have an unprecedented insight. However the Centre hasn't sat on its laurels but instead created a varied and fun experience that has something to offer everyone. From the Hagglund ride,4D show, exploration exhibits, sub-zero... If you can get a reduced rate then this is a good attraction but at full price i didn't feel it was good value. The Haglund ride is excellent and the 4D movie is good.

This place is amazing! There is so much to do here from experiencing an Antarctic storm, 12D movie experiences, witnessing penguin feeding, learning all about the science and research programmed and the not to be missed track adventure in the amphibious Antarctic vehicle. What a day! Do not miss this!

This was quite pricey but was a very unique experience and worth the money. We also paid for the Hagglund Ride - which is a definite must. The ride was really exciting and definitely a highlight for the kids - something they won't ever forget. Also the indoor Antarctic Snow Storm was really fun & REALLY cold. They give you... More

I've visited this place several times over the years and still enjoy it now. The pricing is a bit high but its well worth it to get a view of what life on Antarctica is like for the researchers and wild life.

Situated next to the airport - you can see the USAF & RNZAF Antarctic Support bases across from the carpark - the International Antarctic Centre is a must-see in Christchurch. The exhibits are excellent - both educational & entertaining - as the centre is well planned & laid out, with plenty for the kids as well as the adults. If... More
