It's the ultimate Antarctic adventure! Experience the dramatic seasonal lighting in the four seasons of Antarctica show where it 'snows' every 6 minutes. Venture out on to 'the ice' from Scott Base to play in 'Antarctica' the snow & ice experience and survive an Antarctic storm! How long can you hold your hand in the icy Antarctic water? Hang out with Little Blue Penguins, buckle up for the famously exciting Hagglund ride, take an awesome simulated 4D Antarctic cruise, watch Happy Feet 4D, then watch a stunning movie on a MASSIVE screen! It's the closest you'll get to Antarctica without mounting your own expedition!

We spent a couple of hours wandering round the Antarctic Centre, and learning about the history of this cold dry continent. It was fascinating to learn so much about an environment that is so different to ours, and I loved learning about the wildlife that lives there. Make sure that you visit the Penguin talk, it was so cool to... More

I took the 10:00 free shuttle from i-Site. On the way, the driver explained about Christchurch, pointed at important spots, etc. So it was really great. Free transportation along with free guide! Because my flight was at 20:30, I had the whole day to absorb everything, and never felt bored. Being the last visit on my itinerary of this first... More

We went there because it was right next to our airport hotel. Interesting place with a number of very small penguins. All the penguins have disabilities and they are being rehabilitated here - a very noble indeed, but not the most pleasant thing on a holiday. Anyway, you can watch the feedings. They have a simulation of antarctic conditions including... More

Our first time visiting this establishment and we weren't disappointed.. We adored the little penguins they were super cute! The snow storm was good but it's a shame that it doesn't go longer and the hagland tour was very fun. Our driver was very enthusiastic. We went to see a 3D movie and the random water squirtes were hilarious! I'd... More

Visited here last week with our two teenage boys and the centre probably held their attention for about an hour and a half. If your teenagers are lazy like ours and don't like reading information boards you are limited. The hagland ride was really enjoyable as was the snow storm and the 3D theatre. Fantastic facility for Christchurch and will... More

The Antarctic centre is worth a visit in my books just due to their adorable penguins. The best part is too they have all been adopted because they cannot survive in the wild! The Hagland ride is worth the one off trip also if you can afford the slightly extra expense.

This place is neat. We had great fun exploring the snow room. Wasn't game enough for the hagland ride but did look like a lot of fun!

Very Interesting. Actually I had been to Antarctic 2 years ago. I am still impressive by this charming center, snow-truck, ice-cold room, 3D movie and lovely little blue penguins.
