It's the ultimate Antarctic adventure! Experience the dramatic seasonal lighting in the four seasons of Antarctica show where it 'snows' every 6 minutes. Venture out on to 'the ice' from Scott Base to play in 'Antarctica' the snow & ice experience and survive an Antarctic storm! How long can you hold your hand in the icy Antarctic water? Hang out with Little Blue Penguins, buckle up for the famously exciting Hagglund ride, take an awesome simulated 4D Antarctic cruise, watch Happy Feet 4D, then watch a stunning movie on a MASSIVE screen! It's the closest you'll get to Antarctica without mounting your own expedition!

We spent our last day in Christchurhch of our New Zealand trip. The last activity was visiting the International Antarctic Centre. I am glad that we made this choice. The place is very near the Christchurch airport, it tooks few mins to go the the airport from the centre. Hagglund is a real MONSTER! You could also imagine how tough... More

We decided to leave for the airport in enough time to allow a stop here . It was a good choice the 4D experience is great fun , the layout is easy to navigate and of course the Penguins are an added bonus that everyone loved . My two boys 8&15yrs loved the arctic weather experience and learning about the... More

Expensive but fun and educational. Try to book passes on bookme.com as this can save a few dollars. Came here 11 years ago and enjoyed the Antarctic storm. Brought our chn back to visit and the place has increased in size and price. New additions include the penguin encounter and feeding, 4d movies and hagglund ride. Plenty for kids. A... More

Great venue for adults and children, the Antarctic snow storm is well worth experiencing. Basic entry is $40NZ but you pay extra for the 4D pictures and trip on Hagglund ride. Lots to see and do and easy to find in Christchurch, near the airport.

My wife is a junkie on Antarctica having read about Captain Scott when small. However I found the centre really interesting as well. It was cool in more ways then one to be in an Antarctic storm. The displays and films about the area were really interesting and the penguins were cute. If interested in Antarctica it is easy to... More

The Antarctic Center's walk through of life in Antarctica and the blizzard experience definately give the average person a sense of what it is like to be 'on the continent'. As one who has been down to McMurdo many times, the blizzard experience certainly lets one feel how cold it can get. The rest of the center is simply a... More
