Staglands is a very enjoyable day with kids. Lots of birds and animals to feed and forest to wander. A bit of a pain to drive to, but really relaxed and fun once you're there. Very friendly staff and cafe is good and affordable.

Excellent wildlife park, full of amazing creatures and lots of great things for children including a rope swing in the woods and a lovely café that is filled with wooden ornaments. You can feed the animals with food they give you at the reception. Watch out though the goats are cheeky and greedy!

We stumbled upon Staglands Wildlife park by accident, but decided to go because we needed a break from all the driving through the mountains...and we LOVED it (not just because we're very fond of Animals)! It's a beautiful park to relax and walk a little bit and a very natural environment for all the species living there. Plus it has... More

Every school holidays for the last two years, my kids have asked me, 'Can we go to Staglands?' If that's not a great testimonial, then I don't know what is! Yes, the drive there can be a bit scary for the uninitiated, but the kids have a blast feeding the animals and climbing the hill with the deer and goats... More

Attended with my 6 yr old grand-son as part of the Wellington Food on a Plate festival when Staglands ran a cooking over a campfire experience. After that we went around the park. My grand-son was running around like a wild thing and I could just take my time and enjoy the fresh-air and animals. I have a pretty hectic... More

Staglands is a wonderful place to visit with kids. It takes you back to the nature in a way that refreshes your whole being, and the cafe is good, too.

if you have kids then this will be a must do, if you haven't then this will be a must miss! There's nothing outstanding here, except the terrible drive to get to it (and that's not stag lands fault - except for building it where it is). Be warned unless you are used to country roads then this road WILL... More

a bit of a scary drive out there on a one lane road but is well worth the trip. a lovely licensed café with plenty of great food options. Dress warm if going in the cooler mnths, even if it is a nice sunny day because once the sun goes behind the hill it is cold!

Staglands is one of our "local" places that we take friends and family to. You can enjoy a leisurely stroll thru the wildlife areas, then come back to the café for a bite to eat. In my view, if you've got kids, take them to Staglands as opposed to the Zoo...

Thank you for your lovely review. We agree - children (and adults!) just love the interactive nature of Staglands Wildlife Reserve, so it is a perfect destination for a family day out...guess we are a little biased though! More

Unfortunately when we arrived it ended up being a damp and slightly windy afternoon. Although we were visitors to NZ we went with family who live here who were aware that it was $2 each for that day only, which was a bargain on usual admission costs. Despite the weather it was really enjoyed by the whole family, the cafe... More

Thankyou for taking the time to write your lovely review. You visited Staglands on Wellington Open Day when we charged just $2 per person entry. As you saw, many visitors took advantage of this great offer and we were exceptionally busy. We are pleased to hear that you still had an enjoyable visit, despite the weather and volume of people!
