on a good day, a number of people populate this beach. On a bad day, U R on your own! Just another beach, a little out of the city!

This bay as very nice beaches, good café, but is always busy, busy. I won't be going again in the busy season, only when holidays finish.

Scorching Bay is great place on a warm day, especially if there is a northerly wind. We enjoyed a swim in brilliant sunny conditions (although our wetsuits made it easier to stay in the water for a while without getting chilled). We got there early, while there were few others about, and it was peaceful and calm. It is renowned... More

This bay feels like its a bit secluded owing to its location near Seatoun. Very picturesque with lots of space for kids to play. For a break you can easily pop to Scortch a Rama for coffee etc.

Easily one of the best beaches in the wellington region. Not far from the city, but far from the noise. Nice surrounding area also, with cafes etc. Get there early for a great spot, if it's a nice hot Wellington summer day, as it gets VERY busy!

We walked a long the coastal path for about 2 1/2 hours enjoying the sea and wildlife. It's a gentle flat walk which we ended in scorching bay at a wonderful little restaurant before heading back. It's a pretty little bay

One of Wellington's treasures; on a sunny day it's beautiful and even on a rainy day it's still beautiful.

The golden sandy beach is well worth a visit at any time of the year although it is at its best, and busiest, during summer. Don't leave your visit to late in the day as some hills to the west of the bay will hide the sun later in the day. An excellent café across the road and a toilet... More

Arguably the best beach in Wellington. Nice soft sand, awesome color of the water and not over crowded with people like Oriental Bay. Nice place to hang out with friends or family or just with your partner.

This is the best beach in Wellington as it is often sheltered from the wind and gets more sun. It's fairly small and is very busy in summer. Certainly not stunning like the beaches in other parts of New Zealand though (e.g. Abel Tasman). The nice cafe is a bonus.
