This place can be heaving in the summer but is a nice place to go on crisper autumn and winter days too if you don't like crammed crowds. Great café across the road and it does yummo icecreams too! Nice play area for the children as well and some nice trees and benches to sit on as well and plenty... More

Safe swimming, sand, lawn areas, rocks to climb, great views and a cafe, what's not to like. Favourite summer haunt for wellington people as soon as the sun comes out during the summer months.

The location is really the only thing going for it... The food is below average and the prices are ridiculously high for the quality you get. I certainly wouldn't recommend.

Whilst this is probably the most lovely beach in Wellington, unfortunately everyone knows it and in summer finding a park and even a place to put your towel is a huge challenge that I tend to avoid. The best time is out of season when you can have the place more to yourself and still enjoy what it has to... More

The locals told our family if there is one Bay we should go to for some sun, sand, and fun, it should be Scorching Bay. So, we went on Boxing Day. It was full, but not overly crowded, and we found a parking spot up on a hill across from the Bay. The ocean was a bit chilly, but we... More

Great food and seating area with a view of the ocean. Can sit outside across the road from the cafe on a good day.

It is a bit tricky to get here without a car but if you can make sure you don't miss it. When I drive our visitors around the sights of Wellington I always drive around Mirimar peninsular and stop at Scorching Bay. The hills, beach and pohutakawa trees make this a very pretty place rain or shine. The cafe has... More

The place to take your visitors, so pleasant and interesting. Keep the afternoon free so you can sit back in the sun and enjoy your visit
