This is definitely one of the best family beaches in Wellington. A gentle sloping mostly sandy beach with gentle waves and clear water. Outdoor showers, bathroom and changing rooms and a cafe open during the day. Had a fantastic swim when the crowds had gone home around 6 pm. A beautiful spot to relax. We love the rocks too, good... Whenever we are in Wellington, we drive around the Miramar peninsula and stop at scorching bay to enjoy the view and when possible have a swim.

This is one of my favourite beaches on the Miramar penisula. Sometimes it's a little bit crowded but if you drive a little bit further you can find a quiet spot pretty easy. Don't forget your sunscreen on a hot day though!

Lovely drive around the coast of a warm summer day. Great views and places to stop to take photos. If you carry on around the point you can go all the way around the peninsular. Lovely.

Driving around the coast this is a graet beach spot for everyone. Its a bit sheltered which is good and its a super little sandy beacj for chilling at compared to some rather rocky ones around the coast .

This is my favourite beach in the Wellington Region. It has lovely white/golden sands and grass area to relax on. It has good facilities, with public toilets, café and parking all closeby. On a sunny day in Wellington, you cant beat this spot!

Scorching Bay is a lovely beach in the area of Miramar. You can walk along the coast and take in views of the mountains, oceans and beautiful houses. It is quite a popular area for families, with a great playground available for kids and a sandy beach area protected from the wind.

Great beach with excellent facilities. Good parking, toilets, picnic areas. Great for families. Excellent cafe next to beach called Scorcharama, serving good choice of food and drinks that can be eaten in or taken out.

Fantastic location on a sunny day. Beachside, coffee good food. Well worth the small trip from Wellington centre. Makes for a good stop if you are off to Miramar peninsula. I have visited this cafe many times and never regretted my choice. If you have kids then it is a good stop for drinks and ice cream during a day... More
